Hmm..... Well I think Agnostics have more sincere questions and listen more to answers. I think in general once Atheists conclude in their mind there is no God, they give up any type of search for the truth because they think they already know for certain what it is. Even though I have my set theological views, still I question and investigate it, not because I don't know the truth, but because I just want to have my faith backed by reason, logic, and knowledge. And sometime down the road if I find out my faith is wrong, then I can change.

I wouldn't class myself either way, but maybe somewhere in between. Here's why:

1. Christianity in all its forms has repeatedly lied, stolen and demoralized me my entire life. Since it took years for God to disappear completely from my life and has NEVER shown a sign of existing, I cannot logically believe in all that.

2. Since a TRUE atheist seems to stoically believe that there is nothing else in the universe, and I cannot logically prove THAT to be the absolute truth, I find it difficult to believe there isn't anything beyond my own consciousness.

3. Agnosticism, in my mind, is simply the search for that one truth without knowing what it is. I have had experiences with many religions as well as scientific theories that all seem plausible in their own way, but nothing really reverberates with my innermost self.

I have concluded that no matter the argument, there is no way of fully knowing the absolute truth of the universe and that my time on this planet is woefully insufficient to find that truth. If I was swayed by any aspect of organized religion, it might prevent me from keeping an open mind and experiencing everything I wanted to. Logic and common sense guide me through life, and I am richer for it.

Besides, if there WAS one true god then it would have made itself known by now.

Well to be an atheist, essentially you need to have faith that there is no God. It's not quite this simple though, as science and evidence may also come into it.

Essentially though, I believe that we are all agnostics. The fact that NOBODY can be 100% sure that there is / isn't a God, shows to me that all people should, and deep down probably do, believe that 'no one can ever know'.

Huh? So... not only are there self-righteous Christians on here berating all beliefs but their own... now we have self-righteous atheists? Is there no end to the ridiculousness of it all?

Agnostics simply acknowledge that there is no logical way to prove or disprove the existence of god. Atheists are A-THEIST -- the opposite of a theist.

You're so Cynical!!!

Agnostics are not playing it safe. It's simply a statement that they don't know (gnosis) whether a god exists.

Atheism is living without a belief in God (soft atheist) or a positive belief that no God exists (hard atheist).

All atheists would probably on a knowledge level consider themselves agnostics, but on a belief level atheists.

I believe that many Agnostics just are not sure. The only thing that is clear to most logical people is that religion is BS!

No, actually atheism and agnosticism are two entirely different categories. One can be both atheist and agnostic.
Atheism is just lacking belief in gods. Agnosticism is without knowlege that gods exist.

Athiests do not believe in God. Agnostics don't know if there is a God or not. I know because I was an agnostic for a long time.

Oh! No need to be superior about anything!

I wouldn't dream of presuming something so personal about someone. It's largely a matter of semantics anyway. They're all freethinkers - doesn't matter if they put a "theist" or "gnostic" after the a-
