I think they understand already. Most of the atheists on Yahoo! Answers are here to convince the Christians of the folly of their beliefs. The Christians understand that the atheists are bright individuals for seeing the flaws in the Bible, but still have their faith. You understand this faith, they understand your position. It's just a big disagreement, and since it's nothing but kids on here they hurl insults back and forth.
This will continue until the end of the age begins and everyone begins believing in something.

I believe that some are literate in Christian belief. You and JP are. But most of what is written here and written by atheists is not theologically sophisticated. Bertrand Russell was pretty good, but Richard Dawkins is terrible in that regard. And to say that most atheists were raised Christians does not imply they understand Christianity or have any measure of theological knowledge. Usually that happens later in a persons life and is done through intellectual or spiritual development.
To answer your question, when atheists start showing knowledge of Christianity, I will believe they have it. Otherwise, I see it only in a few isolated cases.

Many people just can not grasp the concept that someone is quite happy going down a different path in life. Its hard to convince someone that you are perfectly fine where you are at.When you find the answer let me know, because it is almost as hard for some believers too.

If I have been an atheist i might attempt to coach to those i did no longer believe that they have got been incorrect besides. There are 2 facets to each tale. If we Christians are commanded - and that i in no way try this - to bypass out and sound off the observe of God, people who have self assurance in a distinctive way and choose no area of what you're saying will inform you so. in case you get your emotions slightly harm, you probable deserve it. who's to declare they are going to hell? God comes to a decision each thing. no longer his followers. it quite is needed evaluate this, whilst - no longer purely asking those questions - yet in addition going out into the worldwide. it quite isn't any longer something, against you for my area, in case you're taking offense - yet to those that examine this too.

I already am aware that atheists have thought about 'God' more than Christians have. Because I was atheist for a while. But to convince someone when they refuse to listen? I don't know...

As a former atheist, I found it required more faith to NOT believe in a Creator, and it was much less satisfying in everyday life.

Well, if many atheists weren't so self-important and snobbish and condescending and more helpful, friendly and considerate than many believers might not think they need a god. Besides, an atheist who thinks he knows ALL the answers needs to re-evaluate his own intellect.
BTW, thanks for a non-offensive probing question.

Nothing will convince the Believers you speak of, because they are dogmatic in their ways.
Why would you want to convince them anyway?
