Speaking on the immigration issue as an American. I came here in 1983 as a Palestinian student from Kuwait. I believe that both sides goal should be to limit immigration around the world. No one wants to leave his life is his homeland to start a new one some where else. I am here because I had no country to go to. I am a Palestinian who was born in Kuwait so after high school my student visa was expired. I believe we should improve the condition in their home country so he\she don’t have to leave home. Not all of us left for money.

Some of you pointed to the money that we gave to the Palestinian government. Most of you who are familiar with the Middle East, would know the money was not used to help the people of Palestine but to buy influence for the people in power.
And because of our support for the corrupt government, Hamas won the election and we punished the Palestinians for voting. I think we give enough aides to improve people’s lives but we trust corrupt governments to spend it wisely.
I don’t think the Palestinians are in need of American aide I know the Arab States can, should and will help the Palestinians if we can ensure an agreement between the Palestinians and Israeli Jews to live in peace together.

You came here legally and apparently applied to become a legal citizen upon discovery that this was your only option. You are not alone - many citizens came here and stayed here to escape a very bad situation. The issue isn't coming here legally it is sneaking in under the wire exploiting this country and then lambasting it to avoid becoming a legal citizen and face the responsibility as such. No country is perfect but at least here you can say so out loud. The concern with this latest controversy is that they don't want to be citizens just reap the benefits of such while in residence. Kind of messed up really. Will a wall make a difference - not really. We already have clear lines and no one seems to care how will literalism make that any clearer. It seems to me that If you want to be an American it should be all or nothing - if you don't please go home.

It's a good idea.America has pumped billions of dollars into Palestinian it hasn't changed the country a-tall. If anything the leaders need to be replaced with people who want to do the country good. When you keep pouring in money it only encourages them to allow things to remain the same.

A wall around the border would still allow people to get in and out of America (Ever heard of a door?) , they would just have to do it legally instead of taking the easy way out (well, easy way in actually).

I immigrated here from Germany when I was 13, and it just disgusts me to see these people that run across the border and wave their flag around demanding rights, while they stomp on the American Flag.

Playing the devils advocate for a moment, why does it become our responsibility to fix other countries, shouldn't the people there have the government they themselves have built?

All said though, that's a very noble thought you put forward.

Yes, and we can start improving the conditions in their countries by telling OUR government to get their *** out of theirs. U.S. Intevention in other countries's politics has been a major problem every since World War II. Most people don't acknowledge this though.

It's going to make a lot of people rich and help in the empire building of the USA but will do little else. A freedom wall is an oxymoron if ever there was one.

Your solution is to keep people prisoner in their own countries? Isolationism is not going to solve any problems. I know it's unpopular and no one wants to hear it, but this nation was founded by poeple who wanted to protect freedom for all - not take claim it for themselves and deny it to everyone else. The reason people come to America in the first place is the nation's perceived dedication to upholding freedom for all. I say perceived bacause the public sentiment is turning. Americans are forgetting how this country was built... and by whom. That's right, we're all immigrants or descended from them. Would you condemn a man for wanting a better life for himself and his family? Sentence him to a life of no hope to better his situation? If so, you've condemned every man, woman, and child living in America today. Stop pointing the finger at immigrants for hurting the economy and ruining this country and take a closer look at what YOU are doing to help it.

If our own schools are failing our kids, why should we spend first dollars to improve things in foreign countries?

I think we need to enforce our laws, and all agree barriers are suitable in certain locations. The questions are only where and how much (except for those who want open borders.)

As happens, I do support foreign aid to Palestine, and other foreign aid where it makes sense independently of immigration.

I believe the wall thing is a national disgrace that was put into place as this administration's pathetic response to a vocal group of bigots who fail to be able to win wars of ideas--so they seek to erect walls.

Build the wall,
deport them all (Illegal alien invader rejects)
Fine and jail employers of the invaders
Add gun towers to the wall
call, write, and e-mail your reps and ask them to secure the borders with a wall and deport them all ASAP
