Hi Laura...as every already noted your cat may likely have a lower urinary tract infection. Please consider ringing your vet as soon as possible because if there's a urinary blockage cats can die as a result of the blockage within 24-48 hours.

Here's a website which lists all the details of this type of condition: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_lower_urinary_tract_dis.html

(The disease formerly known as “FUS”)

“Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease” or FLUTD is the term describing the following group of clinical signs:

- bloody urine
- straining to urinate (can easily be mistaken for straining to defecate)
- urinating in unusual places
- urinary blockage (almost exclusively a male cat problem)
- licking the urinary opening (usually due to pain)

Some veterinarians may still be using the older term “Feline Urologic Syndrome,” “FUS,” or simply “cystitis” (meaning literally “inflamed bladder”). Because the syndrome can have many possible causes, it was renamed to discourage the perception that the clinical signs seen represent one disease with one cause. It was becoming too simple for medical professionals to diagnose “FUS,” prescribe a treatment, and look no further for a diagnosis, writing off recurrence to the classical course of the syndrome. Even less accurately, this condition is frequently referred to as a “bladder infection,” which it usually is not, in an attempt to simplify its description.

In fact, the key to treatment is the determination of a cause if this is possible (and it frequently is not). This web site attempts to answer the questions that cat owners have about this syndrome, its possible causes, and rational treatment plans to alleviate it.

When my cats had urinary tract infections they did a lot of squatting that produced a little bit of a watery blood/pee mixture.

The females went into heat a bunch of times and I never noticed any blood. They used to back up against furniture, lift their tail and 'spray' a lot though (no squatting)

Catds go in heat but do not bleed when they do so.

Your cat sounds like she almost certainly has a Urinary Tract Infection. It is very important that you get her to the vet and get some antibiotics. If left untreated, it will develop into a fatal kidney infection that can kill your cat.

A cat does not bleed when she is in estrous and one sign that she is in heat is marking her territory with urine to announce her readiness to mate.

It should not be bloody and I think you should have a vet do a urinalysis to determine the cause of the coloration in the urine which could be because of a urinary tract infection irritating the bladder walls.

Yes, cats go into heat like dogs, but they are also very vocal with their menses. It sounds like your cat has a urinary track infection which is very common in cats...Take her to the vet cause the infection can eventually kill her if it goes to the kidneys and then to the blood stream.......Find a vet in yahoo yellow pages or on the net in your local area....

No, cats do no longer bleed. Bleeding is a the body's reaction to an egg it really is released, is going unfertilized and desires to be removed from the uterus, that's what canines & human beings do. yet cats are triggered ovulators, which skill they want to mate with a view to set off the launch of eggs. and considering that the eggs are fertilized once they're released and inn interior the uterine wall, the liner does no longer shed (that's what motives the bleeding).

this wont be due to a season. cats don't show signs such as discharge when in season.
sounds like she may have difficulty urinating and is common for cats to get cystitis (bladder infection). this is very uncomfortable and she really needs to see seen by the vet asap.
ring the vet.
