So many side effects to chemo my heart goes out to you. I saw my mom and husband suffer the same way. Each time it seemed they became more sensitive to the drugs and something new came with it that drove them to the brink. Be gentle with yourself, and use a mild baby soap with no added perfumes, dust your scalp with baking soda it helps relieve the itch. As for the soreness I am afraid it is due to tender nerve endings being irritated and you will just have to bear with it.

I wish you well, you will be in my prayers and I hope you will experience the wonder of the holidays and receive a miracle in healing. God Bless You.

One of the side effects of Chemotherapy is hair loss. In addition to loosing hair you will have itching and soreness also. You should not disturb it. What you are having now is the after effect of first chemotherapy. It will continue. If the itching etc., is abnormal please consult your Oncologist when you go to him about giving Ice Wrap and act as per his advise. This side effect is very negligible thing when you compare the disease.

Some information about hair loss on account of chemotherapy-

Some chemotherapy drugs cause hair loss (alopecia), but it is almost always temporary. Hair re-growth may not begin until several weeks have passed since the final treatment. This is the most common impact that chemotherapy has on the outer surfaces of the body. In some patients, an ice wrap, called an ice turban, can reduce hair loss. The effectiveness will depend on factors such as the type of drug, dose, and treatment schedule. This preventive treatment must be avoided by patients with leukemia, lymphoma, mycosis fungoides or by those with scalp tumors. People should use with caution if they have conditions such as vasculitis, cryoglobulinemia or a history of radiation to the head. Patients should discuss the ice turban treatment with their doctor before trying it-.

My answer is yes, you can expect a lot of symptoms. What I really wanted to say was

How very brave I think you are and my prayers are with you all for recovery. My mom went through this and had radiation and chemo. Went through radiation and could not bathe during that time, so she used baking soda.

Happy Holidays and I pray for your good health.

Different people react differently. But oh! yes. Where the hair comes out can become tender & itchy. Try using Baby Shampoo & warm water instead of hot.
Even a bit of mild Lotion might help. I think the bubbles may just be the holes where the hair was. Nasty stuff isn't it. But we come out the other end. Long & drawn out. I was so glad when I was finished. Good Luck.
