Sip at a fizzy drink to make you burp! It's amazing & really settles INDIGESTION fast. Works every time for people I've mentioned it to.

hey,

for a short term remedy:
peppermint tea. i use it for heartburn as the products of the market are digustingly expensive. go with twinings as a brand you can get them at the super market. make up a cup add, cold water instead of milk so u can drink it straight away and NO SUGAR this is not a cup of tea for pleasure think of it as medicine if you don't like the taste you will probably get used to it.

it will take a couple of minutes to work and you mite need a few cups if it is a severe bout bout the other advantage is that the tea is good for your whole digestive system so hopefully it will help in the long run too.

long term:
look into the good bacteria we hear so much about. if we are born naturally we pick up this bacteria as we pass thru the birth canal and after that it is our responsibility to top it up.

if you have a high sugar diet the environment in your stomach is perfect for the bad bactreria and yeast and terrible for the good bacteria. the little drinks of good bacteria we see in the supermarkets have at least 3 if not 4 teaspoons of sugar per pot so killing the bacteria they say they give you!!! this is true for all brands except yakult.

try your health food store and look for a pill that has 10 to 25 billion bacteria per dose. if the numbers aren't on the pack don't buy them. talk to the assistant to but don't go with the first shop, look around do some reseach and see what you think.

these bacteria can reduce or even remove bloating, indigestion and other problem with digestion so give em a try. they won't be cheap but neither are indegestion remedies and once you have topped up the levels of bacteria you don't need to continue taking them, so probably cheaper in the long run.

also you might want to see a nutritionist, we all react very differently to different foods, you might find somthing in your diet that your body reacts negativly too.

but for immedite relief peppermint tea

My husband gets it all the time. He usually takes calcium antacids. Some people get it because they eat food that irritates their stomach (like acidic food like oranges and stuff). Make sure to not eat at least 4 hours before bed, if you get indigestion at night. If you can go and get prevacid, not sure if you need a prescription for that or not. Eating alkaline foods can help, some people say bananas help them, others don't. It depends on you. Sometimes pepto bismol helps. Check and see if you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), it can cause all sorts of trouble. Hope this helps. Vote for someone at least.

Keep a food diary and mark when you get the indigestion. Then cut out the foods that are causing it. Usually foods high in saturated fat cause it e.g. chips. Increase your fluid intake. Eat slowly. Don't exercise straight after meal. Get an over the counter remedy like remegel.

I would go to your Doctor if you are getting it a lot. You might have an infection in your stomach ( H Pylori) which is making you more likely to get it. If you do have it, your Doc can easily clear it with antibiotics. Otherwise he can give you something to get rid of the indigestion anyway.
