I want to put a CD tuner and an MD player in the space the CD player in my 2002 Ford Galaxy goes in. (It is about twice the height of a standard car music unit). I know two units will fit in there but how would I get them to work, is there the power and sound leads nessesary. Is the car design so bad that I can not replace the existing CD player?

What you need is a Double DIN Deck. Most car stereos are a single DIN, but Double DINs exist for applications such as yours.

If you want CD and MD in your deck you will have to look at Sony, they are the only ones that still support MD for the most part(in the US at least!).

Check out the Sony WX-5900MD:

I think it is exactly what you are looking for...before you order a new deck, measure your dash's opening and compare it to the specs on the new deck....if your dash is more than a quarter inch to small in any direction you could have serious problems.

Good Luck!!

EDIT: Looks like Kenwood makes a CD / MD deck as well, the DPX-7021MPi:

Both are under $300

If you want to search for more use the terms "double din" and "MD" and "CD"....I used "md cd car stereo" on ebay to find those results.
