i love art and I'd like to take up painting classes
do a lot of artists succeed at selling their work online; do you know anything about that
also, can artists sell their work to someone from another country; is that possible only if you come to see them or are there other ways (i'm totally inexp.)

I certainly don't have the art market figured out, but I'm an artist and I have sold a bunch of my painting online through ebay. I also solicited commission work through ebay. In both cases I used descriptions and digital images for my customers. Now I have pieces hanging all around the U.S. -crazy to think about!
My prices were very reasonable, so I did well. But then, I have another full time job, so it was just a side thing. I imagine you can sell internationally if your digital images and descriptions give your customers confidence that they'll like what they are paying for. Online shopping is a bit of a gamble, but probably the same as shopping from a catalog or brochure if you advertise accurately.

I am a self taught artist, and sell my work online all the time. Get good digital photos, set up a website, and promote that website so that people will know that you are there. Don't expect big sales immediately. you will need to take Paypal or credit cards, and be familiar with shipping if you want to do business online. If they have to send a check or money order they might change their mind. Having your work online also could open up more possibilities that a licensing agent might find you, also. Think of it as a portfolio as well as a sales method.
Ebay is great, but also have a website, as they will both benefit each other.

Check out http://www.etsy.com. This is a site where artists (painters, potters, crafters, etc.) list their items. The cost is 20 cents per item listed plus a 3.5% sales fee. I haven't done it myself (bok bok!), but hopefully this helps you. It's a great site with awesome work, so at least check it out.

selling your work online can be successful. at the same time, it's necessary to get your stuff seen and use your website as another point of sale.

The originality you possess can be taught out of you.
