The King of Aces is Norman Manley, a Californian who according to the US Golf Register sank 59 of them. He had his first in 1964, and in 1979 he scored four aces. However, even though his aces have been documented, there are disbelievers. "I've been called a liar, a cheat, a man with a hole in his pocket," Manley told the Detroit Free Press in 1990. "I've been asked if my dachshund, Gretchen, was trained to put the ball in the hole."
Texan Mancil Davis, who played briefly on the PGA Tour, is chasing Manley's record. He has 50. By the time he was 12 years old, he had a dozen aces. His website says he had at least one hole-in-one per year from 1967 to 1987., Davis, known as the "King of Aces," is credited with the most holes in one by a PGA Tour player. Entering this year, Davis, who does not use a tee on a par-3, had 50 aces, featuring at least one each year from 1967-87. (The PGA World Record)
Oh, and you know how we referred to Manley as the King of Aces? Maybe we should give him a different honorary title, since the mancildavis.com calls Davis by that name -- and lists it as a registered trademark.
He does have his own site: http://www.mancildavis.com/
