It's just that I spend a lot of time at the gym and was wondering if it is all for nothing. For all you people out there that will say it's what's in the inside that counts, let me reassure you that I'm not just a body. I have a wonderful education (degrees for English Lit. from Penn State) and am a published poet.

trofy, trust me I am in no way arrogant. Fact of the matter is that alot of women are intimidated by me, which is something I don't understand. I am actually very intimidated by a lot of women. I like to hang out and have a good time with the rest of them. Please don't mistake honesty for arrogance. I figured I'd list all I could think of so that everyone would understand the situation. Sorry if I offended you in anyway. It was not my intention.

And a degree in arrogance as well.
Im going to answer you anyway. Its great to work out and take care of our bodies. I do as well. I believe it to be important to have a healthy lifestyle. Do I think its incredible important to have a rock hard body? No, I dont. Just being helahty is good enough. Being the best we can be is a huge bonus. But your arrogance is a huge turn off and takes away from any positive aspect of the way you look.

Is it important to whom? Women just want an average guy of average intelligence who treats them right, not one who spends all his time on himself. Men who are obsessed with their own bodies tend to be self-absorbed and also the highest occurrence of gays are...you guessed it....buff. It's not so much how you look or how many degrees you hold that impresses a woman, it's how you make her feel that's important. If she feels like the queen of the world, you'll be treated like a king. If she feels like a dowdy tag-along, then don't expect any favors from her (if you know what I mean). If a meaningful relationship is the ultimate goal, then yes, you are wasting your time. It would be better spent building and maintaining a close emotional bond with someone special. Having a warm body nearby, regardless of how firm it is, beats waiting on one to return from the gym...hands down. However if you are trying to attract shallow eye candy, then you're on the right track.

Well, getting a nice muscle is good. I used to do it too but now not anymore. I find that what's more important is the future and the career. As we get older, we will all age and the muscle will age too.
All I am saying is I would rather do something else. Live longer is good but there are many people that live very long without bodybuilding.

Well I think if you spend a lot of time improving your appearance then you will feel better about yourself and confidence is important to ladies. If a man I was seeing cared about his body and was working out safely and not using steroids then I would all be for it. I might even join him at the gym.

The best thing you can do is find someone as highly educated as you are, that also spends a lot of time in the gym. She'll appreciate you more because of the work she puts into her body!

You need to have excellent health in each of these categories: Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, & Occupational.
You have the 1st one (physical), although yours is an Obsession, & last one (occupational).
You are still lacking in the middle three!! You need to catch up to the rest of us!
