I live in Orange County (southern cali), and there's only 3 vets in the region that do ear cropping as well as tail docking. The thing is that 2 of them do ear cropping their own style (which I don't like). One of them will do it like the style I want, but he will charge about $1,200 for both of my pit bull terries. I really want my pups to get short ears, but I don't know if it's still too much money....or if it's worth it.....I'm stuck....I must decide by this week...................(PLEASE NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT EAR CROPPING 'N ANIMAL CRUELTY, ETC......I KNOW WHAT I'M ABOUT.....)

Well, only you can decide how much it is worth to you. That does sound pretty high even for California. I think if it were me I would leave the ears alone and invest in something more fun for both you and the dogs. Maybe Rally Obedience Competitions or even Agility. Even though your dogs aren't a classic Agility breed you could have a lot of fun. $1,200 would go a long ways for training and competitions. Just my opinion. Again, only you can decide how important it is to you to have your dog's ears cropped.

Yes, that is way too much $$$$. I live in Ohio and I called around a few days ago to get a price on cropping a Boxer's ears and as you, I only found a few. The prices I was quoted was between $200 & $300. I did find a few other vets that does cropping, but they only do it for their customers. Good luck . Try calling other vets that are about an hour or so away from your home town.If you have friends in other cities near you have them do you the favor by calling some vets in their city. You go girl.... that's right you know what you are about and it is the individuals choice whether or not to cropp!!!

That does sound high...but if you are going to get it done, the extra cost would be worth it to get it done right. You don't want a botched job that could lead to lopsided ears or even infections.

I don't know much about Pit Bulls, but if natural ears are acceptable for the breed, you might consider leaving them as is. It will save you lots of money and your babies quite a bit of discomfort. But I do understand wanting them to look a certain way...that's why people buy particular breeds. Good luck.

Yes, that is too much to pay. The are much cuter with the ears on...

You say you know what you are about... may I ask *why* you are getting their ears cropped? The only Necessary reason I can think of would be so that they could participate in illegal fighting activities...

Hello LowRider girl, I heard from a person I know that these can usually be done for about 125.00 Not from a Vet, these are from Dog breeders in OC. I have two pits myself. If I find this person, which will probably be this weekend I will let you know. Or if you find someone that you can reffer me to, I would also appreciate it. Let's keep in touch to see what we find.

It's not worth it. It's a cosmetic only procedure and will cause unneeded pain and stress to your puppies.

Pitbulls look beautiful with natural ears.

That is a lot of money to spend on cropping ears. And if an infection should occur, you will need to add to that amount, so if you are "lucky" you will pay that amount.

That is way too much. Try going to another county. If you are will to pay alot, why not pay for the gas to go out of the county to get it done cheaper.

I think you pretty much answered your own question. If you get it done cheaper, you won't like the crop. So if you are going to do it, pay the extra money for a crop you will like.

Definantly, I paid about $200 each and that included laser trimming which makes the edges more natural and soft. And I get tons of compliments on their ears.
