If you are using an automatic coffee maker, it heats the water so if you put hot or warm water in the coffee maker, it can overheat.
And supposedly, cold water brewing eliminates 66% of coffee acids.

I know that when you make tea always use cold water.Heat the water just to the boil. Too much O2 make the tea taste flat.

I really don't think it matters a whole lot. Try it both ways and you will not be able to tell the difference. However the temp. that it peaks at must be boiling. Then just as it is finished its boil add your tea. Don't forget your crumpets.

Because cold water has fewer dissolved mineral salts in it. The mineral salts build up in your coffee maker and eventually cause it to burn out. And it affects the flavor.
