If you had joined a dating agency and saw a woman you know from the local hairdressers on it and you had met her before and chatted to her and got on really well would you show interest in her through the dating agency? I'm thinking what if she rejects me and I have to go down there again or women's opinion would you find this behaviour creepy?

Showing interest isn't like proposing! It's perfectly okay for you to show interest. If it doesn't work out, you can just say, "Well, we tried."
