had known about astronomy, physics, biology and had been able to inturpret the fosil record, do you think he would have invented God or needed religion?

everyone is religious, even the people who say they don't believe in god since religion is not necessarily connected with god... wheter it is Jesus, Alah, science, mother nature, the all-mighty dollar or anything else all people have something they believe in so i say yes if "the primitive man"* had known about astronomy, biology or physics he would still be religious and thus needed religion...
* "the primitive man" is quoted because if he had know about science we wouldn't call primitive wouldn't we?

I think so. At some point, some of the things science couldn't explain would not easily be dismissed by some as figments of imagination and some type belief in supernatural would start.

No. But, that couldn't have happened. It's only natural that we'd develop through a phase where we would know enough about our surroundings that we'd want to determine why or how it's there, but still not have the intelligence to figure out why.

Yes, because modern science can't even answer the question of how we came to be. Well, it can, but only to a certain point. One day, though, we'll figure out how, and religions will be proven wrong.

People will pray on the desires of other people in order to get ahead in life. So yes, something would have been invented.

sure we know it all now but most of us still have religion because of the things we still don't know!
