If I go to the eye doctor (not sure how to spell the correct name), will they say I need to wear glasses? I see perfectly fine when both of my eyes are open, and have no more trouble than anyone else seeing anything on the boards at school.

If the doctor says I do need glasses, could I get contact lenses, and just wear them in my bad eye? That's what my dad does, and it seems to work fine for him.

(I'm 12, if that helps at all)

My son has the same thing, only his bad eye is 20/400.
He is in his twenties now and does not wear glasses...did the doctor explain that the good eyes compensates for the bad one? Ask the eye doctor about trying the one contact and see if you like the way your sight is that way or if you prefer to just leave it alone.
Let your parents know how you feel...they want what is best for you!

God Bless!

You can wear one contact lens if necessary, but be aware that your dad's need for correction probably has a different cause than yours, so don't try to compare it.

Your best bet is to go to the doctor and let them test your vision. You may think that you are seeing fine, but in actuality, you may need some help in the 20/100 eye. They have a great deal of experience with these situations, and will know best how to assist you.

Also, let them know of any hobbies you have, or how you spend your spare time, because that would also be a consideration as to how they would prescribe any correction for you. Good luck!

Your vision is not that bad and you could go either way. This may change in the future, so continue to have your eyes checked.

Your father may be wearing only one contact because he may have problem with near and far vision. With the one contact, he is able to see both near and far. This works well for that. Don't know for sure since I don't know your father's history but if it helps him, ask your doctor about that for you.

Just go with what the doctor advises you and you will be okay. Of course, you could wear contact lenses if they do not bother you. I have worn them for years. If you absolutely don't need glasses, don't get them because your eyes will become accustomed to the glasses. Leave them off as long as you can.

If you see fine, you could leave it alone. Or, you could wear one contact in the bad eye. I would suggest the Night & Day contact that you don't take out for 30 days (and nights). I just hate all that taking out, cleaning, putting back in, etc. They are so easy and safe. They are made so that your eyes can "breathe."

I guess just go to the eye doctor and tell them what you just told us... They should just get you some for your bad eye if the other one is good...

but personal suggestion: dont go get glasses or contacts until you really feel like you need them because they actually make your eyesight worse.

No, you shouldn't need glasses. Its only if you have both eyes 20/100 that you'll need glasses/contacts.
P.S. age doesn't matter.
