I've heard that dogs can sweat between their toes, but they certainly don't sweat much if that's true.
My dog eats chocolate---dark chocolate---whenever he can steal it, and has never gotten noticeably sick. Noticeable being the operative word, since he always acts miserable.
If your dog just snuck a snickers bar or a chocolate chip cookie, don't worry, unless you have a toy breed. If he got into some cocoa powder or a bag of chocolate chips, get him to the vet so they can clear out his system. If he's already started throwing up, he's already made himself sick, so getting him to the vet is actually even more urgent because of the toxins he's absorbed.

Dogs do not sweat like people; they pant instead. Dogs can eat a small amount of chocolate without getting sick. There is a chemical in it called theobromide that makes them sick; it has higher concentration in darker chocolates like baking chocolate.

Dogs do not sweat which is why they pant.

Yes, some dogs can eat chocolate and be okay. But why try it and push the limits...you really want to find out you're dog isn't okay when it's vomiting, having runs, or dieing on you?!?

Dogs don't sweat as humans do. That's why they have to pant.

And chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Though a larger dog can eat more chocolate without actually showing it. But I've known people whose beloved pooches have died from the stuff. Do you want that to happen to yours?

Dogs do not sweat, they pant. Chocolate may not make your dog sick if it only gets a small bit but, can kill it if it gets too much.

dogs dont sweat, they dont have sweat glands. Thats why they pant when they get hot, because they can regulate their temperature through saliva excretion.
And yes dogs can eat chocolate without getting sick, but they can't eat a lot of it.. one or two small pieces here and there won't hurt, though!

Chocolate Poisoning
All dogs like chocolate, but chocolate can be dangerous. Chocolate contains a caffeine like alkaloid called theobromine. While not toxic to people in the amounts present in commercial foods, theobromine in these amounts can be quite harmful to the dog.

Signs of chocolate toxicity occur within hours after the dog ingests the chocolate. They include vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, rapid breathing, muscle tremors, seizures and coma.

A small dog weighing five to ten pounds can die after eating four to sixteen ounces of milk chocolate; a medium-sized dog weighing twenty to forty pounds can die after eating sixteen to thirty-two ounces; a larger dog after eating about two pounds. Individual variations do occur. Unsweetened chocolate (used for baking) contains higher concentrations of theobromine and is therefore more toxic. A large dog can die after eating just four ounces.

Treatment: If you know your dog has eaten chocolate, induce vomiting. (go to the vets we will do this safly) If two or more hours have passed its nessecary to administer activated charcoal to prevent the toxin from becoming absorbed.

SWEATING
Warm-blooded animals have different ways of sweating. Dogs, cats and mice have sweat glands on their feet. Dogs pant when they are hot because their sweat glands are not sufficient to cool down their bodies. In addition, their tongues allow the water from their bodies to evaporate and cool down their bodies.

NO! DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG CHOCOLATE!!! Yes we all know that dogs would love chocolate, but DO NOT GIVE UR DOG OR ANY DOG ANY CHOCOLATE AT ALL!!! Chocolate kills dogs. I believe it's the caffine and large amount of sugar in chocolate that kills the dog, plus other things in it too! I heard this story of a women who fed her dog hot cocoa every night, and very soon after she started doing that she found her dog dead one morning! Horrible!!! Just don't feed chocolate to ur dog!!! Hope I helped (I know I did!) Bye!
