Jesus is son of God and he is God. Jehovah's witnessess deny this. Look at John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word WAS God. (KJV)
I have two catholic versions and two protestant versions of the bible and all four of them say that the word was God.
The Watchtower is making you Jehovah witnesses deny Christ. Please listen to us Catholics and our brother Protestants and believe that Jesus is Lord.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

You don't even have to belong to a religion or be a spiritual person to see that Jesus is God and Jesus is the son of god and both being the same doesn't even make sense. You have to be retarded to believe that. There are so many scriptures in the bible that prove they are seperate.

Why should one look to 2 dying christian sects like the Catholics and Protestants. They are both losing members like crazy. Most probably don't even ever read there bibles or go to church regularly. And there ministers are either molesting kids or taking drugs and having sex with guys. Sounds like True Religion to me!

you really need to study these words used at John 1:1 using a Strong's concordance, and at least 1 Greek to English(interlinear) translation.
You will easily see that the theos translated God the first time is different than the theos used to define the word.
Also, you might discover the primary meaning of the word theos (god) is not a name nor a title but rather, a quality of the person being described. Incidentally, the exact word used at John 1:1 to describe the quality of Jesus(the Word) is later used to describe Satan as the god of this system.(same exact spelling in Greek with the same exact vowel pointers). So if we were to use your flawed logic, we would also have to conclude that Satan is also god.
By the way I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but on the fact that Jesus is not God ,they are truly in harmony with what the Bible says.
Any one elevating Jesus to equality with God Almighty is in serious doctrinal error.

In addition to statements like 'the three are one', the Bible says that when a man and woman are they they become one, Jesus said about him and his disciples that they are one, and Paul wrote that he and Apollos are one. Taken literally, this would mean that a man and wife would morph into one physical creature, that Jesus and his disciples are all god and that Paul and Apollos are one person. Does this make sense?

Saying that Jesus is not God Almighty is not the same as saying Jesus is not God's only begotten son.

Also, why, if Jesus is The Almighty does he always comport himself as inferior to God. In revelation it says the revelation given to him(Jesus) by God. How is Jesus all God if there are things that his father knows that he doesn't? For instance, regarding the day and hour the son does not know, only the father.

On a personal note, why, if this topic is so serious, do not the majority of people making strong assertions not seem to have done their homework?
To get to the true meaning of the scriptures is easy.
You must take the time to check your cherished translations back to the original Hebrew/Aramaic and Greek using a 1611 KJV and a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.
Thus you might be surprised at how your favorite translations do not hold up to the meanigs of the Bible writers.

john 1:1 you cannot be with someone and at the same time be that person. the scripture in john where it talks about 3 witness bearers has been proved to be spurious and is not in any of the anceitn manuscripts which was added later to prove the trinity teaching.

The reason I dont believe in the trinity is that it is not taught in scripture anywhere. please read your bible and look for yourselves these scriptures:

TESTING THE HOLY TRINITY'S FOUNDATION

A. Who the people of the Bible thought Jesus to be:

1. First lets ask the angel Gabriel? Luke 1:35 - Son of God

2. Next John the Baptist testified him to be: John 1:34 -- Son of God

3. Jehovah himself declared him to be his son: Matthew 17:5

4. Who did the apostle John say we need to believe Jesus to be?
1 John 4:15 -- The Son of God

5. How about the apostle Peter? Let's hear from Peter: Matthew 16:13-16 -- The Son of the Living God

6. Who did God promise to send? Himself? John 3:16 -- His only-begotten Son

7. Who did Jesus tell Thomas to believe him to be? John 20:29-31 -- The Christ, The Son of God

8. Now, let's hear from Jesus himself. I wonder if he knew who he was???
John 10:36 -- "I am God's Son."

9. The chief priest of Israel said Jesus called himself what?
Matthew 27:43 -- God's Son

10. Now did Jesus, under oath, declare himself to be God? NO!
Matthew 26:63-64 -- God's Son

11. What about Mark? What did he have to say about it?
Mark 14:61-62 -- God's Son

12. What about the testimony of an army officer?
Mark 15:34-39 -- Son of God

13 Apostle Paul, the chief of the apostles, after getting the Truth
went into the synagogues immediately and taught Jesus to be what? The
number two person of a Godhead??? Let's look and see:
Acts 9:20 -- No, it's not there either. Paul said Jesus was the
Son of God, after he returned to heaven.

14. Well now, we have heard from the brothers in the early Christian
congregations. Maybe the brothers are mixed-up. Let's ask a sister --
Martha -- who she believed Jesus to be:
John 11:27 -- Son of God

B. Consider: Jesus gave us two important rules to go by to establish
this argument.

One is stated in Hebrews 7:7 -- One blessed is lesser than one blessing him.
Read: Psalms 21:3 -- Jehovah blessed Jesus; so, who is greater?
Jehovah, right!!! -- John 14:28
Read: Genesis 14:18, 19 -- Who's greater: Melchizedek or Abraham?
Melchizedek right!!!

Second: The one sent is lesser than the one sending.Read: John 4:34 -- God sent Jesus John 13:16 -- Who's the greater: Jesus or Jehovah?
Read: 1 Corinthians 11:3

C. What about the demons? Do you think the demons are Trinitarians?
Did they believe Jesus was God himself? Read: Luke 8:26-28

II. Now that we have seen who the people of the Bible thought Jesus to
be, let's look at the other side of the mystery!!!!

A. Who the clergy think Jesus to be:

1. God, the Son.
2. The 2nd person in the blessed Trinity.
3. Equal to God.
4. Has no beginning; not created.

B. CONCLUSION: Jesus is the son of the Living God.

1. John 14:6 -- No one come to the Father except through me.

2. He inherits all things from his Father. -- Galatians 1:16; Hebrews1:2

3. He helped his Father in the creation work. -- Genesis 1:26; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16, 17 Including millions of angels -- Daniel 7:9, 10; Revelation 5:11

4. Jesus continues as the Word of God or His spokesman, even after he
returned to heaven. -- Revelation 19:13, 16

5. Jesus said he lived because of the Father. -- John 6:56, 57

6. Jesus credited the Father with the creation of all things. -- Matthew 19:4-6

7. If Jesus IS God, then God died on the torture stake and the Bible is
wrong when it tells us God cannot die. -- Habakkuk 1:12

8 After the 1,000 years Jesus is still in subjection to his Father.
1 Corinthians 15:25-28

9. Because Matthew 28:19 uses the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit together in one sentence, Trinitarians believe they are all one. Ridiculous!! If I say the Sun, Moon and Stars are the light of the Earth, I don't mean they are one, do I? NO!

10. They say John 1:1 declares a trinity. No, no. Only two are there not three!

Besides: Read John 1:14 -- It says it was the Word of God that became
flesh and NOT God Himself.

Further, many people saw Jesus but the Bible says at John 1:18 that no
man has ever seen God.

11. Look up John 4:12 Something Jesus nor the angels knew -- Mark 13:32.
He prayed to his Father for help. -- Luke 22:41, 42

12 Also, Jesus has a God, so , he cannot be God. -- John 20:17

13. John 17:3 -- He called his Father the only True God.

14. Jesus is the first-born of all creation. -- Revelation 3:14;
Colossians 1:15-17

15. Jehovah has no beginning. He always was and always will be. --
Psalms 90:2; Revelation 15:3

16. Some use 1 John 5:7 to prove the Trinity. Spurious text! This is NOT in most manuscripts!! But, if it was, it STILL doesn't prove a Trinity because the 5th chapter
of 1 John carries the theme of Jesus being the Son of God.

17. So, if these three are in agreement, it is to this fact: Jesus is the Son Of God.
God cannot lie -- Titus 1:2 God of Truth -- Psalms 31:5 His word is Truth -- Psalms 119:160

IV. Holy Spirit A Greek word (Paraklete) means "helping hand."

B. 20 - 25 years later these brothers could write down the truth with
that power. -- John 16:13

C. Jesus is now the man in charge of the Holy Spirit. -- John 15:26; John
16:7
D. He poured it out at Pentecost; you cannot pour out a person. --
Acts 2:17

Notice Emma's answer on this post. and the one just above my post by achtung_h

They did a fine dance around the Bible skipping from verse to verse. they would like us to believe they have all the right answers. If they know the Bible so well, then why did they jump over John 14:7, 8, & 9 are they not part of their Bible?

John 14:7 If you had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philp saith unto him, Lord shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father, and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father.

Be very careful when dealing with Jehovah Witnesses. They are an occult!!!

If you ever get the chance, read one of their Bibles. It will look just like a regular Bible, but read John Ch. 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was ( a ) God.

They put in ( a ) that changed the whole meaning.

A WARNING TO ALL CHRISTIANS!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH JEHOVAH WITNESSES, They know their way around the Bible, to bad they don't know Jesus Christ as their Savior.

No hard feelings Emma, and achtung_h but you got sucked into a cult.

Not everyone prescribes to the notion that this Jesus fellow was really the Mosiach; in addition to the Jehovah witnesses, Muslims and Jews also refute the divinity of the person you call Christ. Maybe they are on to something?

2006-12-02 12:51:14 · answer #6 · answered by tengubushi 1 · 2 2

The key term in all of these is the word, "begotten".

God has many sons, including the angels.

But Jesus is the only son eternally begotten of the Father.

This means that Jesus is of the same godly "essence" as his father.

Not angel.
Not just man.
Not a confused mixture.

Jesus is God. Co-eternal and co-equal with his father.

And since the Holy Spirit "proceeds" from the Father and the Son, that makes the Holy Spirit God, as well.

Perhaps God erred in not stating this more explicitly?

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

You cannot get any clearer than that! In the above verse it is revealed that God is ONE, yet you also see that He is a "Trinity" of THREE distinct Persons.

Unless they are somehow right.

I figure the odds of the JWs being right are about the same as any other religion. Interpetation of the bible is usually based on opinion and speculation. One could argue that nearly any interpetation is equally valid with another.

the Witnessess are only one of many sects in the history of Christianity that have denied the divinity of Christ and so they are a schismatic sect, such as Jansenism and Arianism etc.
