One of my friends is telling me that you can not store a DVD Disc
in an audio "slim jewel case" because they dont have the same properties or something like that. The discs should be store in "a dvd storage box"....

Can anyone verify which should and shouldnt be done? Are there specific cases for the DVD's that need to be bought?

I am transferring old home movies onto disc, but dont want to lose the picture quality or have the disc get messed up in any way in the future...

Thanks

Obviously you can store DVD in CD slim jewel cases.
The Laser head in the player can differentiate between CD and DVD but a plastic box does not have that capability so it can not do any harm to your precious DVD.

There is no difference between dvd cases and cd cases. Go ahead. It's fine. I've done it.

your dvd's are more prone to scratches in a cd jewel case.
