As long as the conversation centers around the bible rather than human philosophy, it seems that this course of study is commendable. If the questioner is a minor, he will want to respect his parents' wishes in specific matters while recognizing his higher commitment to God.

(Ephesians 6:1) Children, be obedient to your parents in union with the Lord

(Acts 5:29) We must obey God as ruler rather than men

The Watchtower Society is a high control religion that uses techniques of indoctrination. You are unlikely to know the answers to their questions as they train 3 times a week on how to 'sell' their version of truth, and so it is not recommended that you allow yourself to be sucked in by their reasonings.

Some things to be aware of.

They only started 130 years ago by "Pastor Russell'.

They have wrongly predicted the end of the world several times, such as 1914 and then 1925.

The second baptism question is that you get baptised to the Jehovahs witness 'organization'. Therefore, if you were to ever come to realise it is a false religion they will disfellowship you, so that any JW family and friends are forbidden to speak to you.

The Watchtower is regularly filled with biased information or direct lies to support their theories. Unless you are aware of how to detect rhetorical fallacy it is quite easy for people to believe the falsehoods presented.

If you want to know more please look at jwfacts.com before speaking to them further.

If you feel you are learning things and like what you are hearing you should continue talking with them. Pray to god about this and ask for his help with this question.

JW's are not there to push anything on you it's everyones own free will if they want to listen and talk. If you said no they would stop and not bother you.

You will get alot of negative things on this board as many people aren't as open minded about looking into the beleifs of others first hand as you obviously are so I commend you on this. It's nice to see a young person take a true interest in his spirituality.

God put your parents in your life to protect you. I do not know how old you are, but from what you say I would tend to think you are younger. You should obey your parents as the Bible says. Jehovah's witnesses are a cult and they operate and the intellectual level. They generally appeal to those who are intellegent and do not have much problems with doing wrong stuff. They will work on your mind until you question everything if you let them. You need to read the Bible to find answers to questions you have and talk to your pastor. Also read things by ministers like Bill Graham and Charles Stanley, men who have given their lives to serve Christ and his Church.

Most of all you need to make sure you really are born again and have the Spirit of the living God in you. Do not speak with these people on their own ground - the intellectual and clever arguments. God speaks to our heart by his word and his Spirit and shows us the truth. Be willing listen and to obey God. Obey the Gospel and believe in Jesus Christ alone. Get out the King James Version or even the NIV and you will find what the Jehovah's witnesses say does not line up. Grab hold of John 1:1 and don't let go. God will give you many verses to understand the truth.

Here is a simple fact. The Bible teaches that there is one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You can find this even in the Old Testament. Jehovahs witness concept of a god is like that of the hindu concept of a god, not the realty of God revealed in the Bible. As the Bible says, "The natural man receiveth not the things of God neither can he know them for they are spiritually descerned." The Bible teaches that Jesus is God in the flesh.

The whole crux of the matter rest singularly on thing: The person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's fine to learn more ("know thy enemy"), but test what they say...for instance, they may tell you that Easter is pagan...sure...in some aspects, but it is also the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ (believe it or not, one may celebrate Easter, or call it Resurrection Day if you wish, w/out the Easter bunny, and the idea of a Easter ham is a bit ironic). Anything that goes against what you've been taught, write it down and bring it to your parents or your pastor so they can tell you why the JH view is inaccurate.

If you feel convicted and are strong in your faith. Just know they use a subtley different bible with altered words. Many don't know scripture at all. I would do a study on what they believe and where to find the answers for them. For example, they say there is no where in the bible that Jesus is called God "Almighty" and therefore Jesus is not God. But there is
Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was , and who is to come, the Almighty.”

This verse is clearly speaking of Jesus if read in context. But many times a JW person is not aware of the many verses speaking of how Jesus recieved worship. Be aware and guard yourself up because they know their bible. You need to know how to refute any error. Just a bit of advice. Hope it all works out for you.

This is a free country and one has the right to engage in a conversation with anyone who is interested. Religion is a tricky topic, though, because of its subjective nature. If a Jehovah Witness wants information about the things you mentioned, they can Google it or discuss it with you. Be aware, however, that they have an agenda formost in their interest: converting you to their religion. You have the right to choose or not to choose, but they can be unrelenting pests when denied.

Yes, you should stop talking to them. Unless you are well grounded and knowledgeable in your Baptist beliefs, they will succeed in confusing you. They train and practice confusing people of other beliefs. They are very dedicated and dangerous. They DO NOT believe in the divinity of Christ. They DO NOT believe in the Holy Spirit. They DO NOT believe in the new birth. They DO NOT believe in salvation by faith apart from works. They DO NOT use the same Bible we do, but a corrupted version that has been altered to support their views. They DO NOT believe in Christ's attoning death on the cross. I could go on......but, please listen to your parents, they're giving you good advice. I also suggest that you consider talking to your pastor.

First of all , how old are you ?Your parents may be concerned that somebody is trying to recrut you to join another religion before you are old enough to make up your mind what religion you would like to belong to. Remember the guy who gave you the booklet scores big points with his religion if he wins you over . By all means you are free to choose but hear what your parents have to say first.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that Jesus was God. Here's a verse for you:

Isaiah 9:6-7

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, [b] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

It specifically states that the Messiah will be GOD ALMIGHTY - Jehovah - a child born - JESUS. They are spreading false doctrine.
