I think my friend is taking Ritalin when she doesn't have a ADHD condition. What does this do for people that take it that do not have the condition?

Ritalin, for people that have been diagnosed ADHD, is like the brakes on a bike. The brain is going 100 miles an hour and can't slow down long enough to process normal thoughts. Ritalin will put breaks on the electrical processes of the brain so that a NORMAL progression of thought takes place. If the person does NOT have ADHD, Ritalin works like speed. IT WILL SPEED UP THE BRAIN, BODY and HEART. This drug is hard to get because it is VERY CONTROLLED by the FDA. ALSO it is very addictive. Your friend may not be able to wake up without the drug. If you suspect drug abuse, talk to your mom, if she is not comfortable going to your friends mom, for the sake of saving a life, go talk to her yourself. 1st, talk to your friend!! GOOD LUCK!

You need to ask your friend if your concerned. If you don't think your friend is telling the truth then you NEED to bring it to someone's attention. Ritalin is very habit forming and it alters the chemicals in your brain.

Well, it's never a good idea to take any kind of prescription meds that aren't prescribed to you. However, a lot of people in college take it during finals week to help keep them up and focused.
