You can't, 36 VDC is all you can get.
1- You can get a 4th battery.
2- Depending on battery size, (if you have 3 automobile batteries), you can get a 12 volt inverter to 120 VAC.
3- Last but not least, you may have an item that will run for a while on the lower voltage and that item (Radio for example) doesn't require much current and will treat the 36VDC as a low battery and work anyway.
Good Luck ! !

Hook up one of the batteries in series with eachother, then hook up a large capacitor in series with one of the batteries. Switch it so it adds its voltage to the series batteries and you'll have 48V for a fraction of a second. There's no way for you to get 48V constant current from 36V constant current, though, by basic conservation of energy. You're gonna have to pull in 12*I watts somewhere along the way.

Better do the math first. 3 x 12 = 36. 48 - 36 = 12. Hmmmmmmm. Looks like you need another battery.

You can't.3 batteries connected in series will only supply 36 volts.you need 4 batteries to get 48 volts.

Convert it to AC and then run it through a step up transformer, reconvert to DC, then a voltage regulator. Excpect curreent loss as you gain voltage you lose current and visa versa
