In order to get a useful answer, one must put at least a bit more effort into asking the question. You have not mentioned anything about your OS - I presume that you have Windows... and most likely XP... but I need you to confirm this, before I could reply.

Have you tried to go into the control panel on the start button, then into the user accounts. From there you should be able to set the administrator function. Hope this helps.

Go to Start - control panel - user accounts.
Set a password on your account and check it is the admin account.
Create a new account and give it limited privileges and let your mates use that. They won't be able to install software or make any serious changes.
