They can divide the equally and each of the 4 men can get 75 head of cattle.
OR, the 2 fathers can take 100 head each and give their sons 50 head each.
Or, each father and son can keep 150 head between the two of them.
And, on it goes. There's many ways to divide the cattle, as I'm sure you know.
Why this question?

Let me make sure I understand your question.
1. If you have 300 head of cattle between 4 people then it would be divided into 75 head of cattle for each of the 4 people.
2. If you have 300 head of cattle for each father and son then it would be 150 head of cattle to each of the 4 people.
Hope this makes sense.

Hey, Kid,,
last posts don’t know squat about cattle other’n the meat they see on their plates! This isn’t simple division !!
The herd is going to have to be individually id’d, appraised and looked at by a Vet. to get a fair market value of the herd. Then depending on each person’s investment in the enterprise that percentage will determine how many head each investor receives. 2 old broken mouths aren’t worth nearly as much as a yearling heifer or a springer.
Smart money would get a completely fair honest “3rd person” involved who has NO ties to anyone in the group to make a fair evaluation !! After the appraisal is done, each interested party should pay the appraiser according to the percentage they have invested in the enterprise.
