What is the point of telling kids about a fat man with flying reindeer that gives you presents every year? What does a big bunny that gives you rotten eggs have to do with the birth of Jesus Christ? What does the tooth fairy have to do with anything? Why the hell do parents tell their kids such ridiculous lies? An another point, who came up with this stuff?

I get what you all are saying, but why celebrate a fat man an bunny? It seems like that, candy, and presents are all that the kids know about the holidays.

I plan on telling my son the true story of santa clause.... That's what my mom did, when I was about five she found a book about the real saint nick, and read it to us.... we still pretended that there was a santa clause (leaving milk and cookies, watching for reindeer ect..) but we were not lied to.....

Did'nt your parents do it with you?
I do it because it's fun and I loce ti see the gleem intheir eye's when they think that Santawill be here and they have such fun hunting eggs and if they think mommy and daddy want their teeth it's not as fun as a strange little fairy that gives them money.
Why are you so bitter about it if you do not like it raise your child to know that it is all fake. And I do not think that eggs have anything to do with Jesus but ir s still something the kids look forward to.

Why with all the things going on in this world today would you not want your child to believe in a little magic. My children know that Jesus is the reason but they also know that santa brings the presents for fun. It's the one day a year that they don't have to worry about strangers, and bombs, and hell on earth.

If you look back at history, life wasn't always as easy for kids as it is today. They had to work dangerous jobs or were starving half the time. Maybe their parents were trying to come up with something that would help them get to be kids. What's wrong with a little fantasy now and then?

useful, its a variety of mendacity and my spouse and that i do no longer try this as a results of fact it taints our credibility approximately issues that are additionally as complicated to have self assurance yet real like the virgin beginning, the resurrection, eternal existence, heaven and hell. yet we do hunt for easter eggs with funds in them, and the youngsters understand that we hid them. some comic strip character as quickly as pronounced, "faith is believing in issues you recognize are no longer real". Its extra complicated than that, yet at first blush, on occasion what's real looks impossible, so which you will droop disbelief to get to the fact. So, in case you positioned too many no longer ordinary lies in front of your infants, they could basically supply up, like Pontius Pilate, who pronounced, "what's fact".
