It's make-believe, not a true story. Like Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny. Santa Claus was created so that little children would behave. The Bible was created so that adults would behave. Same thing, just different target audience.
I find it amazing that with all the media that was around at the time of JFK's assassination, 50 years later we still don't have the definitive answer to why he was killed. Yet when it comes to the bible, events that occurred thousands of years ago, in a time where stories where embellished and passed on by word of mouth, some people take it as "the truth".
Anyone who had anything to do with what is now in the bible, was "edited" by leaders of society (Emperor Constantine for one). The goal has always been to conquer lands or to control populations. Religion was the very first form of government.
My father went to seminary to become a Jesuit Priest so I've heard all the "stories" about the bible I can stand. Thank goodness he saw the "real" light and decided to leave and join the real world.
I could go on forever, but I fear that I'm surrounded by a bunch of narrow-minded, brain-washed bible thumpers.
I look forward to all the negative ratings.

Cain killed Abel before he had a chance to marry. There was Seth also in place of Abel who fathered Enosh(Seth did). Now, obviously at that time these humans were almost perfection itself and so were allowed to marry sisters or brothers as the case may be.
Another point to consider is that even though Eve was created directly from the rib of Adam, she became his wife so what can we say about that? They WERE perfect before they sinned and Adam was the first human Son of God.

I think Cain and Abel used that mail-order bride service to get their wives.

The only possible explaination that I can see for this would be that they came from Adam and Eve, however it does not say that Abel ever had children.
Genesis 5:3-8: "And Adam lived on for a hundred and thirty years. Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth. 4 And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. 5 So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.
6 And Seth lived on for a hundred and five years. Then he became father to E´nosh. 7 And after his fathering E´nosh Seth continued to live eight hundred and seven years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. 8 So all the days of Seth amounted to nine hundred and twelve years and he died.

Cain took onto himself a woman out of the land of Nod. Please don't ask me where this land of Nod was, or how many people lived there.
Poor Abel never had a wife, Cain murdered him.

MANKIND ADAM
……………………….
Most have read when Cain talked with Abel and in the field killed him.
Gen.4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
God then cursed and drove Cain out, and Cain said.
Gen.4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
WHO IS CAIN WORRIED ABOUT?
Gen.4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
WHERE DID CAIN FIND A WIFE?
The answer is in the Hebrew text of (Gen.1:26 and Gen.2:7).
……………………….
MANKIND
Gen.1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
The word “man” (Gen.1:26) in the Hebrew text looks like this ( ××× ), with no article means “MANKIND”, transliterated is (adam).
……………………….
ADAM
Gen.2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
The word “man” (Gen.2:7) in the Hebrew text looks like this ( ×ת־×××× ), with article and particle means “THIS SAME MAN ADAM”, transliterated is (eth-Ha adham).
……………………….
On the sixth day God created or made MANKIND.
……………………….
On the eighth day God formed THIS SAME MAN ADAM.
……………………….

Good question. The literalists have lengthy explanations, including mathematics, explaining their resolution of the question. Search on something like "Cain wife Nod."
The linguistics actually support there having been other people going about already, but literalists don't like linguistics when it proves them wrong.

When God created Adam and Eve, their genome was perfect. Every gene was in place, and they were immortal. No diease, no pain, nothing. Perfect. Then, when they fell, damage began to creep in, but it was still possible for people closely related- cousins, brothers and sisters for example- to marry. Their children would have been fine.
It wasn't until after the flood when the vapor canopy (called the firmament in the Bible) collapsed allowing for radiation from the sun to damage us further. The laws prohibiting incest were given then.
We're taught that we started out as slime, and we keep getting more and more advanced- more highly evolved. The Bible teaches the truth that we started out perfect, and now, we're running on fumes.

Every time Eve gave birth, it was to a twin: a boy and a girl. The boy would marry the girl of the other twin and the other way round.
