Hi:)), Registered Nurse here; Sorry to hear your feeling bad. The answer is yes the flu shot can make one sick, and throwing up is certainly seen with the flu. The flue shot stimulates your bodies immune system to kick out antibiotics to increase the resistance of getting the flu. In some people when the immune system is given this boost there body goes into kick butt mode so to speak, and you feel tired, may run a low grade fever, have headache, and in some the pain of a headache will cause further nausea and vomiting. Pamper yourself,, get plenty of rest, maintain adequate fluid intake, such as: juices, apple, grape, Gatorade, power drinks, etc. Take ibuprofen, Tylenol, for aches, pains, and fever. You should be feeling better in couple of days. Thank you for the opportunity to address your question and hope your feeling better soon. Also please try and ignore the 4th year nursing student who is bouncing around all over thee place with some rather unprofessional advice and instruction. Also let me take the opportunity to remind Ms. 4th year, she hasn't passed her boards, nor graduated yet, and she is classified as a student at this point and not a professional of health care, with this in mind, perhaps she will re evaluate her approach. I do want to apologize to you on her be-halve for she is not responding to your question in the manner appreciate and becoming to a Registered Nurse.

I rarely got sick I was born. Sometimes I did not get sick for 2-3 years. If I got sick, there was only 1/year. My immune system was strong. I started getting flu shots for 2 years. Got 1 flu shot/ year. During 2 years, I have got sick so many times. My common cold lasted for 3 weeks. I became normal. Then 1 month later, I got sick again. I got sick about 6 times/ year. I am eating healthy stuffs every day and work out 4 days/week, but my body is still weak. I will never get flu shot again.

OK last year I had no reaction. This year I got sick with body aches, head ache and fever. It took 2 days to create the problem and so far it isn't as bad as the flu. So, the answer yes it can in some cases. Don't know why it does sometimes and sometimes not. Just take my word for it. I feel like crap and hoping it goes away soon.

Don't believe that a flu shot won't make you sick. I got one last week and I can't stop coughing. They're lying because they all want everyone to get the shot.

There are some instances where injections with as previously suggested by well meaning but less informed individuals, Can make you ill, Ok, that is just the fact, I have seen so many nurses Swear to Jesus, that the culture is dead and so cannot come back to life, however there are some circumstances where the product may have some interaction with existing live bacterium in the body also with immune compromised individuals and those who have high sensitivity to some components of the injection. So insisting that no one could ever get sick from an injection is udder stupidity. Sorry Pun intended.
