You can get an estimate from a qualified technician.

It will depend on the estimate, as well as the make and model of the camera (its overall value). All that info should factor into whether or not your camera is worth repairing.

It is had to find a reliable camera repair person anymore. Look for a camera shop that has been in the business for many years. I think they send cameras out or to the manufacturer. You need a place that sells that brand too, you will need parts. I have a couple of good Pentax cameras, but they need repair, I just bought a good 6 megapixel digital, I like the ease of operation. I don't have the long lenses like I had for my 35mm though. I do miss the telephoto, but I do have optical and digital zoom.

Take your camera to a reliable camera store. They will be able to fix it or advise you on where to take it to get it fixed.

Some 35mm won't fire the shutter and allow the film to be advanced if the battery is low. You might try putting a new battery in it and see if that helps. That could be a challenge in itself as many of the batteries that were common in 35mm cameras are difficult to find.

For example, the Minolta SRT101 is now 40-50 years old. No one makes the original size of batteries anymore.
