Our wedding is Dec. 16, 2007. I want a centerpiece more original than just a candle or vase and flowers. Any good ideas? Colors are deep red and silver.

After christmas this year I would go to the stores and buy decorationg for cheap!

One word: Ornaments!

There are endless possiblities with ornaments

* Fill a fish bowl/container with red and silver tree ornaments and put tea lights around the outside of the bowl

* Make small trees w/ornaments on them

* Use card board or paper mage (sp?) and make big snoflakes and paint them red, silver, or ice blue and sprinkle glitter all over them. Then on the end of each spike of the flake put a picture of you two. (like an e-pic)

* Use a fishbowl or container to make a snowglobe, use powder for snow or make tiny snowflakes, or cut up vinyl-ish red wrapping paper into little squares to make confetti.

* Also, you could get get big candle holder and etch snowflakes, or wintery things on it and put a red candle in it.

Just a few ideas

I like the idea of wreaths for centerpieces - you can choose to put candles in the center of them or not. The wreaths can be either poinsettias or the round tree wreaths with pinecones and cranberry bunches. You can even decorate them with pretty white lights - beautiful!

And you can sprinkle snowflakes around the tables too to add to the perfect winter glow.

# one idea: 5 or 6 tier stand, placing in each tier your deep red poinsettias or roses.

#two:a fountain! i've always pictured a flowing foutain, and u can sprinkle some fresh red flower peddles in the fountain.

#three:a christmas tree, real or artificial. think about a silver tree with deep red flowers. if a real tree (use real flowers).

#four:a basket of christmas an array of different ornaments.

#five:a statue and throw some deep red fabric over the shoulder of the statue.

that should get u started or spark another idea. if u could give a lil more info next time. what does your room/walls look like, chairs. what does your wedding cake, gown. etc more info please.

Snowmen; Figurines or stuffed

Close to Christmas...a bowl filled with Christmas ornaments of silver & red. Get them now when they go on sale. Or a wreath of evergreen with lights and/or ornaments.

How about a basket of snow covered pinecones with white lights entwined throughout the arrangement. I've seen this in BIG fireplace baskets.

Make some snowglobes

Red carnations and roses mixed in a vase with some artifical snow sprinkled on top of it. Or get a mini Christmas tree and put some liltte, shiny, oranments on it. Another option is to get a snow globe or a snowman. Like someone else said you can even get an ice sculpture!

Depends on your taste. But I've seen square tiles of mirrored glass placed in the center with rose petals placed on top, alternating with small tea light candles in dusted glass cups. Very pretty.... Good luck!

Ice sculptures are always gorgeous. One wedding I went to had seperate cakes for each table for the reception, and they made very original, delicious looking center pieces.

Since it's in winter, a simple ice sculpture might be appropriate.

There are places that sell ice sculpture moulds, or really...any good candle mould would do as well to make the sculpture.

Here are some URL's to moulds.
