I'm a black American and I have to say that I would never discriminate against anyone, unless they did the same to me. I think that Muslims are misunderstood by Westerner's in general, and vice versa. And black Americans are still experiencing racism in America, most people just try to hide it because it's not "socially acceptable" anymore. Anyways, I admire the Muslim people who aren't the stereotypical "suicide bomber" or "Islamic Extremist". I think Muslims are cool and are hated because of the negative stereotypes portrayed by the Western media. Since most Americans are of European descent, and maintain a economic and cultural friendship with most of Europe, they kinda have ideas based on a more European perspective since the US and Europe are considered Western democracies or "beacons of hope" and most Muslim countries are considered Islamic strongholds or "terrorist strongholds" by the media. It's kind of like the media and politicians in America are trying to pit the West against the Near East (Middle East) in terms of popular opinion.

It's not just america it's the UK as well. It's not that muslims are looked at as an inferior or minority race at all. It's just the fact that we've been targeted and blown up for something we AS A PEOPLE IN GENERAL have not done, we're obviously very distressed by this, so we distrust muslims as a precaution to our own safety. We don't know which Muslims are going to attack us and which muslims just want to get on with life, if by the way you are the first type of muslim then I would just like to say It's the government you have a problem with so it's the government that should be addressed, and not the people, we have as little choice as you do, we just have to bite the bullet and get on with it, democracy is gone you don't get a vote when the government demands you do anything, they don't ask us they just do it, so spare a moment to think about that and realise we are actually in the same boat as you.

Well I can say this about a majority of Amercians. We do not understand the religion of Islam. In most religions, it teaches peace and love..from Christianity, Judiasm to Buddhists. We find it difficult that these extremists in the Islam religion will go out and kill themselves while harming others for their religion. My husband spent 2 years working all over Iraq and tried his damndest to understand but it was difficult for him to grasp. So most Americans think that Muslims are all out to "blow us up" and "take over the world". Now being an open-minded person, I've lived in very diverse cities in the U.S. Washingtone D.C. being one has a huge population of Muslims. My former manager was Palestinian but became a US citizen. Working with him for 6 years made me understand that not all Muslims are like the ones depicted on television. "Sam" was a very hard working man who ran his business very well. He treated his employees with the upmost respect, even inviting us to his home for dinner and a little hukah time. He was a great father and husband. After moving south, one thing I find I miss the most was his skills and sense of humor. I will never find anyone quite like him to work for.

Bottom line..I have learned that Muslims want the same thing that all of us want~A family, success, and happiness. I am not bothered by them, have had several Muslim friends from all over the Mid-East. If more people became open-minded they would see that Muslims are not bad people at all. Good Luck to and God bless!

Are you kidding? Americans look at Muslims and wonder how long it's going to be before you try to kill us ... that would be both black and white Americans! While white America treated blacks poorly in the past, we didn't have a policy of wholesale murder against them. A Koran believing Muslim believes that all non-Muslims are infidels, and the Koran calls on obedient Muslims to kill infidels! The Muslim religion is the only one I know of that teaches the hatred of non-Muslims and promotes the killing of the same! Those 72 virgins must really be something!

No as long as you dont try to do any fanatical Jihad stuff then we arent gonna come at you like a tornado made of finger nails and teeth. And thats stupid because not everyone looked down on black people. Thats like saying everyone hates pizza. No only some people hate pizza. Its your freedom to be muslim and all that. Dont try anything funny and we wont have a problem.

Not at all!!! Preducism against blacks is still widespread and partially economic in nature. DIfferent than bigotry against islam.

Most Americans are o.k. with most muslims. Its only when they see examples where some muslims/islamists should wierd values like honour killing their daughters, etc. Sharia is scary to most americans. But again, not all muslims are asking for this to my knowledge. Other examples of the Islamist values in Saudia Arabia, (not Turkey which is a GREAT country to my understancding), including different blood money payouts due to religion and sex, death for being gay, etc.

thats an insult to blacks

Martin Luther King was a peaceful man ahead of his time, the blacks NEVER killed innocent people on a mass scale

some people profile muslims becuase of thier history of fanatic terrorism,,,

i think that kind of profiling is acceptable

No, infact theres a high percentage of americans changing to Islam. Those that explore the life of islam and read about it find it something amazing and beautiful. The Quran is one book, never been rewritten. So there wont be so many doubts on whats right and whats wrong. What you see in this book is what we follow.

No...The blacks were mistreated simply because of their skin color. Totally wrong and unacceptable.
Muslims blew up the world trade center, and have killed thousands of people. Can you understand how some people would feel paranoid about them after that?
It really is comparing apples and oranges.

I don't think Americans look upon Muslims any differently than they look upon any other religious group...Religion is a belief, unsubstantiated by fact, therefore why would one be more "true" than any other....
