aww sushi that a cute name for a persian colorpoint..but you can stay with her in a room with a few toys or treats and when she does a few good tricks or responds when you say her name very close to her she might look at you because she hears noises and she'll realize sooner, my cat learned his name at 2 months old the day we got him, when i said mini me he was a bit confused then someone suggested to shorten it by mini so maybe call her Susu or something for short, or she might just not want to be called from her spot, and also shes not a dog she wont always come when she hears her name, well good luck.
sushi is the cutest name for a colorpoint persian, she cant not like her name she has to be very young.

I use an "animal communicator" with my pets (which right there will make many people throw up their hands in disbelief).
Anyway I named a new cat Sigourney (she was long, slender with legs that went on forever - like the actress whom I enjoyed watching in the movies). I called my cat Siggy. Apparently the cat didn't really like that nickname. The cat suggested Sheila and I tried that for a while (I didn't care for that one). Somehow my cat and I compromised on Sylvie (she is a silver-grey dilute tortie female.)
I think cats don't really respond to their names when called such as dogs seem to do. They know when I am talking to them and I use their names when I praise or scold them. Names are never an issue when dinner is served. I think if I said, "Here triceratops" I would get the same response from the cat(s).

Try getting some treat for her at the pet food store. Before you give her a treat, call her a few times, even if she is right there. Then give her the treat. Eventually she will understand that your voice is a reward, and you can move on to petting her whenever you call her

You only play a small role in your cats personality. basically a cat is gonna do what it wants for the most part . Mind you there are some cats that are very conforming, but that was their choice to.

she might not know her name yet. But cats don't usually respnd to their names as much as dogs do. Cats are more independent, and don't like to be told what to do. Over time she will become more attached to you and she will be more responsive. But in the meantime show her lots of love and always show her that you love her.

Cats don't listen, I had to learn that from my last cat. I used to get cats all the time and for the past five years I've had a dog and forgot how cats were.

no - i am sure she likes her name, or doesnt have an oppinion. She also may be just controlling the situation-which all cats do on a regular basis. Try using a bell, and say her name as often as you can to her - so she gets used to you using it.

Cats have their own personalities, just like people, they are all different. Sounds like she's either stubborn and elusive, or just shy. Keep GENTLY working w/ her (if you force her, she'll be afraid and you'll ruin any relationship w/ her). Call her to feeding time bet she know her name then!
