A friend of mine had the same issue in her neighborhood but they were just killing "certain" breeds. She has a large, intact male pit bull, and was worried about him since they were killing "menace" breeds (the other deaths were 3 American Bulldogs, a Husky, and 2 Dobermans). If you know what breeds they are killing you may be able to pinpoint where they may strike next, and you can let the police know. If they just seem to be haphazardly killing whomever they can get to, I would suggest investing in a large run to attach off the dog door to the garage, and maybe roofing it so they can be outside, but they aren't close to the edge fencing and at risk as an "easy" target for these people. Also, as everyone has mentioned, I would definitely tell the police to see if you can't get the patrol in your neighborhood changed/improved during the times when these killings are happening.

My first question would be how do you know there is a "person" killing dogs on your street?? If you have some factual basis to say that I would contact the police as it would be a crime of animal cruely.

On keeping your own dogs safe whether or not there is a real danger, consider crating your dogs or giving them limited access to your house. Or lock the them in the garage and lock the doggie door. If your dogs are adult and housebroken they should be able to "hold" it while you're at work. If your dogs have issues and cannot hold it for that long than you can consider pee pad or paper training them.

If I was you I would tell the police have a watch with the neighborhood so people could keep an eye out but just an eye on your dogs right now K

If you really think that there is a dog killer loose I would contact the proper authorities with this information. You would hopefully be able to give them times that the alleged killer struck. Then they can maybe set up surveillance. But maybe the is a disease or virus going around. Make sure your pets a properly vaccinated.

Well you need to get in contact with the authorities that specially handle dog abuse. I'm show you've seen the TV show where you can report animal abuse and they'll come out and investigate. Kinda like dog 911...But anyway this is not something you would want to ignore even if you didn't have dogs. www.pet-abuse.com/cases/1659/

put a cctv camera outside your house. How do you know the dogs are being killed and not run over? ill?

On a more serious note:
call the police, if you are worried that they might be a dog murderer about?

Put signs out around your property on fences and on garage windows stating that property is under 24/7 video surveillance. That kept people off of my 2 acres.

the best thing 2 do is to leave them in like a big bathroom or take out a bed in a guest room and clear it all out so the cant wrek anything and call the police until they catch the guy.

Just call the police. I wouldn't reccomend calling a dog sitter because for all you know, it might be the dog killer. also get a security camera.

Maybe if you know a close friend or a family member who lives close to your house, you could ask them to dogsit your dogs aka watch your dogs for you
Or you could hire a person to watch your dogs
