Good question, considering that faith proves nothing except that you are naive.

There really is no way to prove that their god exists. They can only state why THEY believe...which is an illogical explaination at best. Ask a Christian why their god is the only god and none of the others cut it. You'll get the same answers. "Because the Bible says so" or "the Bible says..." when the Bible itseld isn't even substantial evidence of the existence of their god.

*Sigh* I don't think that anyone will have a good answer for your question. I'm sorry I don't...but I'm not a Christian either, and I don't understand why they do what they do any more than you!

Good luck! :-)

I think that if you did a study on the word 'faith' , you would find that using the word 'trust' would be an accurate definition of the word.

That's what God wants from us. Trust. And those that are Christian, truly Christian, are Christian because they trust Him. Not because of being 'moral,' 'righteous,' or any of the other drivel that comes up in the popular topics these days.

But your question had to do with proof.

Well, your proof is in the texts of the Bible. There are prophecies telling of the coming of the 'Annoited One' the prophetic 'Son of Man', the Lamb of God. In Daniel, we have when He would come. And when that time came, Jesus showed up and did the things that were written. You get a good example of this when you read the Gospels. They themselves tell about the prophecies that were written about in the 'Scrptures' of that time, which were what we call the 'Old Testament.'

But here's the rub, you can't understand them completely until you are drawn by the Father, as Jesus said, "None come to me except the Father draw him nigh." (Paraphrase from John 6:37)

So your proof is in the scripture.

They don't use faith to PROVE the existence of God. That would be a contradiction - faith only exists in the absence of proof. Since the Bible says you must have faith to enter heaven, and you can't have faith in something that is provable, it seems to me like the whole question of proving the existence of God is moot. But that's just me.

Small and Fierce has a point.

Evolution (out side micro evolution) is only a theory that must be accepted by faith, unless you know of an experiment where some one has reproduced the big bang, that formed galaxies, that formed solar systems, that formed life, that evolved....

Christians don't use faith to prove the existence of God. In fact, they can't.

All any of us can do, no matter what faith persuasion we hold to, is point to evidence and explain how that evidence supports our worldview.

Anyone who is seeking truth simply examines all the evidence and then considers various possible explanations for that evidence in order to decide which explanation makes the most sense.

The bottom line is that all evidence is interpreted. There is no such thing as any evidence proving anything, as we always have to interpret that evidence.

The very interesting discovery of our postmodern age is that we interpret evidence the way we want to interpret it. In our secret heart of hearts we have already decided what we want to believe and we interpret the evidence accordingly, giving weight to some pieces and dismissing others.

Those who want to believe in a God, do. Those who do not want to believe in a God, don't. Even those who believe in a God choose the kind of God they want to believe in, and often choose some form of worshiping themselves.

The real reason that most people choose not to believe in a God is that they do not want to be accountable to that God so that they have to evaluate their lives and make changes in light of their accountability to God.

One of the interesting maxims in sales and marketing is that people make the decision to buy with their hearts, and then justify their reasons for buying with their heads.

Likewise, people choose whether or not to believe in God and then point to evidence to support their decision.

It usually takes some significant life event to cause people to be open to looking at the evidence differently. One of the things that can cause people to reevaluate whether or not God exists is seeing the effects of faith in God and the lives of those who follow him.

One of the reasons that Christians seem to use faith to prove the existence of God is that their experience of God and what he has done in their lives is the very thing that confirms for them that God does indeed exist.

Because even Christians doubt and ask themselves the question, Does God exist? It is their own personal history with God that holds them through the rough times. A mere intellectual belief almost never will.

Nobody can prove the existence of God.

By the same token, nobody can prove the non-existence of God.

If God Himself were to appear infront of you and say, "I am God. I created and sustain the universe. To prove it, in the next 2 minutes, I will raise up a city of 2 000 000 people in the Sahara desert where now there is no one." And He does that miracle. Does THAT prove that He is God? Certainly NOT!.

Nope ! It is not a blind faith.

Rom 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse

no one has seen the wind, only the effects of the wind, therefore the wind exists. GOD is like the wind. all one has to do is look at the glories in the Heavens and Earth to see the Handiwork of GOD. yet, GOD, HIMSELF like the wind remains invisible to mortals because even with their 5 senses we are unable to see HIM on this plane of existence.
