Is her litter box cleaned everyday? She does not like it's odor for sure. She might also envy your affection towards those plants. Whatever you do don't spank her or such things that can break her heart. Cats are not stupid at all and sometimes they become as stubborn as their masters and there's no such thing as a standard procedure in training cats because they may have very different feelings and personalities. If you need a pet that follows most of your orders. That's not a feline.

What a problem. I have heard of that before but my cats usually just slept in the pots. Maybe you could try putting the plants in another room off limits to the cat. In that way he/she might forget all about the sweet smell of earth. After a time, you could start bringing back a pot or two and see if your cat remembers their bad habit. Hope this helps. You could always ask at Petco. They might have a better solution. Good luck!

You could put any kind of mesh material around the base of the plant. Or, even bubble wrap, although does not look as appealing. Some chicken wire works real well. Also, lay some Moth Balls around the perimeter edge until the cat quits, then take them up as they might damage your plants root system. Plant cactus around the base of your plants........;-) LOL

add some plant soil to her litter box. you can also dot the outside exterior of the plant pot with those pet repellents that deter animals from hopping on furniture and stuff. just a little to keep her away and not harm your plants.

Peel a fresh orange and rub the inside of the peel anywhere you don't want the cat to go. They don't like the smell, worked with my cat.

We used to put a mouse trap in the flower pot ~ it doesn't hurt them, just scares them enough and they will quit doing it very quickly! This works well also if your cat gets on counter tops or furniture.
