We obtained this 4/5 year old female a little more than a month ago. She had been living in a puppy mill. She blended in with our other dogs, all cocker spaniels, very quicly. In the past three days she has stopped eating, anything other than treats. She is still extremely active-running and jumping all over the place. She just does not want to eat.

She is wanting to spend all of her time grazing in the back yard. The temp has dropped more than 40 degrees and all she wants to do is stay in the back yard. Her fuid intake is wonderful.

When we first got her, there was a rumor she mught be pregnant. I have had puppies with my cocker spaniels and I don't see her with any of the normal cocker spaniel signs that puppies are on the way. Could she be ready to have puppies?

I don't need a lecture. I need advice. I know she is better off with me than at a flea market, where she was scheduled to be given away.

She is eating grass, but she hasn't eaten anything out of the ordinary. She has been offered her dry food and she's been offered her dry treats, that's all.

As soon as she came home she was wormed and given heart worm preventive. Since there is the possibility that she might be pregnant the only other the vet would have done was an ultrasound.

Has she seen a vet, yet? This sounds like the perfect time to call your vet and introduce your new addition. Actually, this should have been done prior to bringing her home to be sure she is disease and parasite free and healthy. You don't want your dogs contracting anything she may have .

Please bring her to the vet.

The best answer is to take her to a vet and get her checked out thoroughly, especially if she is from a puppy mill. They will also confirm if she is pregnant. Unfortunately those poor animals go through all sorts of horrors there. Being outside is probably all she knows and doesn't really understand having a nice warm loving home yet. It will take a lot of time, love and patience to teach her that, and for her to really learn "love". I have 2 puppy mill dogs. Although one is better adjusted than the other. My female still has a lot to learn. She is absolutely scared to death of thunder and loud noises, and she is not at all comfortable at night. But I pay lots of special attention to her, pet her, massage her and let her know everything is alright and she is safe with me. And she has been responding very well. T-Touch for dogs is an excellent book to help with the trauma she has gone through at the puppy mill.
As ar as the eating issues, that could be part of the trauma she went through. Afraid to eat something that a human has given her. Or it may just be she doesn't like the food you are feeding her, try something different. But talk to your vet about that. That is the best advice anyone can give you.
If you are giving her a warm, loving caring home then of course she is absolutely better off with you. And it takes a very special person to care for them...So no lecture, just have patience, and give her lots of love.

Take her to a local vet where they will feel her tummy and if needed take an xray to see if she's pregnant. I've bred shih-tzu's for a couple of years and I knew she was pregnant right away. And my females never lost her appetite. Be careful because if she is she might be looking for a quiet place outside to have the pups. Go to the vet quickly!!

If your dog ate a mushroom than you need to go to the vet immediately your dog will stay there for about a week and then you'll get her back I had a pug and the same thing happened.

Well first i also have a crocker spaniel, daisy, which i love, she's a year and 8 months years old. whenever i take her out for her walks she starts to eat grass, but i found out that it's normal for dogs to eat grass, it cleans out the dogs system, like for instance, if h=they ate like a piece of gum the grass would take it out of the system, and this would cause the not eating thing, when they eat grass they would eat their normal food for a while. hope this helped BYE :0)

It does sound as if the best step to take would be to get her into the vet. Since she does spend time outside, you do not know if she is urinating or having regular bowel movements. I know how attached we get get to our wonderful canine friends, so make an appointment with a professional ASAP.

it might take plenty extra severe scandals to make me desire Romney. All presidents have had scandals, Reagan had Iran Contra which replaced into plenty worse than those, yet few Republican regretted vote casting for him. i might point out Bush´s yet he's no longer a competent occasion on account that many human beings did be apologetic approximately vote casting for him
