--about Bible stories?
They hate to discuss the O.T., because they know how childish it is, and how it portrays a hateful, vengeful god running around "smiting" everybody and telling them to kill those he doesn't like.
But if there is no father--there is no son.

They want to focus on the N.T. because it's easier to swallow, w/ it's message of foregiving, and loving. That's easy to sell, but you can find it in writings prior to the N.T.

Suspendor---I have read both O.T. and N.T., that's what caused me to stop believing.
I'll bet you haven't read them except piecemeal here and there.

Share-- Good point, and if we were made in his image; why did he have leggs when there was no surface to walk on during the zillion years before he created heavens and earth?--why did he have eyes when there was nothing to see?-- ears? pain receptors?--digestive system?---sweat glands?, etc., etc.

TIM--Obvious question= where did He come from?
Why did he kill his son to appease himself?
Why did he kill Job's family to test Job?
When did we have: talking snakes, big fish that could swallow a man whole and spit him out later in fine shape,or 30 cubit boats that could carry all the animals by two w/ all the food for a year, and how could they keep from eating each other?
Squirm baby squirm.

I think it's more fun to watch non-Christians try to prove a point against Christianity when it is blatantly clear that they know very little about the subject under discussion.
And many non-Christians have absolutely no idea what the word "hermeneutics" mean or how to apply its principles. For that matter, there ARE many Christians who don't know what it means.

Sorry to disappoint you sunshine, but I never twist and squirm. I am happy with my beliefs and I respect your belief/non belief.
Much of the old Testament is not to be taken literally, it is more of a morality story. However, it is you that says God is vengeful: it is not my opinion that God is spiteful and cruel. If God were so, why would he send His beloved Son to suffer and to die that we might live?

You also have to realize that the people that are responding have not necessarily been to seminary. I haven't either, but hey, if someone catches me on a point that makes more sense than my own beliefs, I can at least say I don't have an answer.

You are so delusional. There is a God and a Son. God has all the right to do what ever to whom ever he wants. All non believers need to realize and thank God for being such a patience God or else....poof you all could be gone.

Well why don't you ask an 'obvious question about a Bible story'? I mean, I most likely know the answer if it's so obvious (the Bible is so good, isn't it?)

Who's inventing? Jut because you're too lazy to look up the answers is no reason to belittle those who are willing to provide those answers for you. If you don't want to believe, DON'T! Just don't complain when Heaven's gates are barred to you.

each person has a right to believe the way they want to because of free will as long as their free will does not interfere with the free will and rights of others or violate the laws rules and mores of the Country in which one resides. because I have free will to believe the way I want to I will believe in THE DEITY.

And god said " WE shall make man in OUR image".
I wonder, was god confused from spending too much time alone?, or how many gods were there at the time 'they' decided to make man look like 'them'.
