I recently found out this guy I knew got busted for selling drugs. I am not a big fan of his so this was good news for me. But I was wondering how much jail time can someone get for that? Here is the exact wording of the police log: "felony charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling drugs." Also there were HUNDREDS of grams of pot between the people who got arrested.

Depends on what state he is in! Drug charges are governed by state law, so it all depends on the state. Maximum is probably 10 years, but if it is a first offense for the guy, and depending on the circumstances, he could wind up with probation, a couple of months, or maybe a year or so in prison. No way to know. Depends on the judge too.

Depends on how much he got busted with and they might also look at his past record and if he has any other drugs charges.

Unfortunately not enough, if penalties were much stiffer maybe it would change some peoples mind about how to make a fast buck!

That's life imprisonment to death, depending on the maximum penalty for crimes in your country or state.
