If we win the war, there will be no more terrorists. If we lose the war, there will be more terrorist attacks in the U.S soil.

I am a Gulf War Vet (both) USMC.

If we lose the war, we will just have to deal with an increasing number of terrorists.

If we win the war, we will still have to deal with an increasing number of terrorists. But we are more likely to be taken more seriously when we say we are not playing around.

(Kahdafi and President Reagan is an awesome example of this!)

I think the question lies in who, and what, will be influencing the terrorist activity in that part of the world.

Yes, we have Sadam, but if we were to just walk out and leave, someone just like him could step in and we are back to square one with tyrrany in IRAQ.

If we stay and try to establish some stability in the area, we are possibly preventing another "Sadam" from coming into power, and we are also leaving an influence there (politics). By this I mean we have some idea of who is running things, what they are doing and why, not some "clown" murderer, using the people of a nation for his personal gains.

Walking away now would be leaving the job incomplete. "Turning tail" to the terrorists which infect the area would be letting them know that we (the US and the world) will run when things get ugly. So they will basically win.

So in essence, we do not "win" anything in the short term.

We stand to gain a lot in the long term, but those gains will be more political than financial.
It may take a while, but consider how long it took for the United States to become "United".
It is not like an "Overnight Express" package to fix everything.

Contrary to what many believe, the US is not so much interested in Iraq's oil as it is interested in the country of Iraq being an example for other countries in the region.

If we wanted their oil that bad, we would, and could have taken it the first time we were there.

Did you know that the US is gaurding the oil lines so that Iraq can still sell it's oil to the world?

If we just wanted oil, we could just take it since we are already controlling/gaurding their only means of selling it, for them.

(Just my opinion.)

The war on terror is not only in Iraq it's all over the world. as long as there are islamic terrorists there will be a war. If you stop hearing about bombs going off around the world than we win.

Dont listen to these cowards and Anti-Americans. As a two time veteran of Iraq and am here right now in the USMC. I can tell you this war is winable. Its gonna take a while because rebuilding a country cant happen in a couple of years. Americans want everything done immediatly and dont realize it take many years to rebuild a country. These people have no concept of democracy and its slow but progressing. You got to show some faith and realize that its better to bring the fight here than to fight them in the USA like Isreal is doing.
If we win this war than a few things will happen.
1. Iraq will become an allie in the troubled Middle East.
2. Iraq will be an example of freedom for other Middle Eastern countries.
3. Iraq will beable to vote for their leaders.
4. We will have showed the world that the USA will not tolerate Terrorism and you will pay dearly if you are a coward Terrorist.

How would we lose?
1. By listening to the cowards and idiots who want to pull out early.
2. Iraq will be over run by Terrorists and most likely a civil war will break out.
3. The world will see the USA is weak and try to take advantage of that like after the Vietnam war.
4. All the brave Americans that died will have died for nothing.
5. The Terrorists and cowards will win.

There are no winners in war because it propagates itself, hate breeds more hate. Imagine that you are a child in a country that is decimated by a foreign country, your city is bombed, your family is killed. Would you grow up hating that country, would you teach your children to hate. Yes there are evil people in the world, but the only answer is for the entire world to disavow these actions and join together to stop this insanity.

It's a bogus war like the war on drugs. It's just an invention of politicians that makes it sound like they know what they are doing.
Has the war on drugs been won? The war on terror will be the same.

if we lose this war it is the end of the west, thats what our enemies in the middle east want, an islamic ruled world, dont believe me?, listen to president tom (cant spell or pronounce his actual name so this does well) the president of iran and bin laden they will tell you. This is not a bogus war and it is a war we need to win, and will win as long as we keep the liberals out of power!

How are we going to know when we've "won"? Who surrenders?
Terrorism is a nuisance but no country was ever brought down by terrorism. Does anyone really think that Al-Quaida is going to take over the Western world? It's laughable!
This is a war against nobody and it;s costing us dearly in money, lives and freedoms. It is creating more enemies.

The "war of terror" is unwinable, it is already lost, and many more people will die.
