Yes, you can remove them if you don't intend on returning to win98.
This will give you more hard drive space. It won't cure a lack of RAM tho (you need at least 256 these days, and 512 makes life a lot nicer).

In reading your question, I have realised that it is Hard Drive space that you require NOT memory.
Win 98 CABS can be deleted safely. As for Drivers, if you can find a REAL way of difrenciating between the Win 98 ons and the WIN XP ones, then they can also be deleted.
Word of warning: Create a system restore checkpoint before you proceded, and try not to empty the recyle bin untill u r sure that all is well. Good luck.

I don't advice you to do that, because if there is one common file, your XP won't function properly.
Try to make a clean install of XP next time, instead of upgrading from 98. That way it's neater.

back up that windows98 files, in case your winxp does'nt work properly you still have them. upgrade your pc for more ram.
