Yes, I feel they should be respected more. I visited a Kingdom Hall one of my friends attends and I was impressed. They have a large map of a section of our city that their Kingdom Hall has responsiblity over, charts of what areas they've already gone knocking doors on, detailed notes on who wants to be revisited and all sorts of pamphlets and such.
They got a large-scale "save as many people as we can" operation going on, and for that I give Jehovah's Witnesses props.

Jehovah's Witnesses are unconcerned about the respect or disrespect which they are given by this world. Frankly, the Witnesses would be concerned if they were universally popular!
The fact is that "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems significant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Most people do not have an appreciation for or appreciate being evangelized upon.
Until they stop that practice, which they will not since it is a part of their make-up they will continue to be a source of aggravation and disrespected by many.
I understand that evangelism is a part of Christianity but am glad that most Christians do not seem to take it literally. I see religion as a personal thing.
When the disciples were asked to spread the word, there was no other way to get the word out except by face to face contact.
Nowadays those who want to know about Christianity have the information widely available and do not need door knockers.

That is up to an individual person to bestow respect or not. I have found Jehovah's witnesses to be amazing people, that I cannot help but respect! Their behavior and love is amazing. I do have to say however, that I really disagree with a lot of their Theology, when I looked into it more. There is much about the base of that relgion, that just doesn't hold water. I do respect the fact that they get out there and share their beliefs, but I believe that they have to, and report back to their place of worship, etc. They are always highly encouraged to do so, by their leadership, and maybe wouldn't so much if left up to them individually. They are very nice though.....

Christ teaches to love everyone. I believe people deserve respect as they individually give respect.
The caveat you listed at the bottom is what may cause some of the disrespect as that seemed to come from a self-righteous attitude.
But as to the answer to your question, ALL people are Children of our loving Heavenly Father and we need to treat everyone as such.

No because they are spreading THEIR version of the word of God. And the worst part is they try to use fear and better-than-thou attitudes to do it.
They are the least liked and least respected christians in my book. Don't try to shove your version of religion down my throat. Aggression will be met with resistance in almost every case. Once Jehovah's Witness learns that, they might get more converts.

Respect is relative. I respect everyones right to have a different opinion than mine on whatever they choose. However, I will not bastardize my faith for the sake of tolerance. I am tolerant but do not expect me to not offer my opinion as to what I believe and do not expect me to copy what you do simply so I can be accepted as tolerant to your faith. I would not ask a Muslim to pray to God in Jesus' name although that is what I do. It would be appreciated if they could simply be silent out of respect during my moment of prayer. And I would do the same for them while they face the Mecca. But I will not get down prostrate and pray in the same fashion as that is disrespecting my own faith. So while I am tolerant, as I said it has limitations.

Most defiantly. I'm not a Jehovah Witness, and I have never ever seen a Religion run down as bad as them. And it seems that they are the only ones who live and act by the bible.

I do not believe that people who let their children die instead of bringing them to the hospital when they need it just because of some obscure superstitions about medical treatments should be given more respect. They should be given psychiatric medical help. It's ok (though it's a syndrom of schyzophrenia) to believe in fairy tales and Middle Eastern legends, it's not OK if you let your kids die because of it.
