A pub where you are amongst friends, with good quality banter at the bar, serving a good range of high quality inexpensive ales, good food, no loud music, no smoking, no children and friendly bar staff. It would be great if it wasn't too far from where I lived either.

There used to be a place in Portland, Oregon - The Goose Hollow Inn. They had each night offer a single kind of music. IE: classical night, rock, jazz. No smoking nights and decently priced finger food.
Now I'm in Montana and miss it. Wonder if it is still there.

First off a place that serves types of beer in GOOD glassware. Imperial pint glasses, dimple mugs, weizen glasses, etc.
A great selection of beer on tap. A staff knowledgeable about what they're serving, who can make recommendations based on what you like.
Good bar food is a must.

I would really like to go back in time to the bar at the ok corral,and been witness to the gunfight that happened.Sumthing for a change of pace.

one with a relaxed atmosphere, a total ban on smoking, kids and loud gregarious people!
one with a good selection of regional ales and good wines too..
oh, and HOME COOKED food, not portion controlled crap, like many pubs dish up..

no children, cheap drinks, open till very late, pool tables, screens to watch the footie, no really old men who sit drinking on there own, maybe some music and a dancefloor, and somewhere that sells food.

It plays nothing but classic rock at medium volume, has reclining chairs and several nooks and corners, not too bright, has gorgeous women tending bar, and serves Jade absinthes
