What are some fun Chirstmas family traditions you have with your kids?
We have a few, we all get to open one present Christmas eve, always new PJs and wear them to bed. I have two girls, 4 and almost 2, we make cookies for them to leave for Santa.
I was just wondering what your family traditions were? Thanks and Happy Holidays!

We make cookies and candy through the whole month of December.

Starting on December first, the kids have Advent boxes from their Grandma and get to open one present each day up to Christmas.

We visit Santa at the Children's Museum and have their picture taken with him. Their Dad built the chair Santa sits in there, which makes it extra cool.

We have a family portrait taken each December too.

On Christmas Eve they get a book and a pair of PJ's. The book is usually something they have had from the library a lot the past year and really love. It always has an inscription from mom and dad. They put on the new PJ's, we read the new books and we hang stockings and leave treats out for Santa.

On Christmas morning they usually have 3-5 gifts from Santa under the tree and a stocking full of little stuff.

There is usually a gift exchange with cousins too.

When I was a kid, every christmas we would run to the tree for our gifts. Sometimes there were gifts and sometimes there were not.

My father would sit there staring at us and if we did not thank him profusely and pretend to like the item we recieved, he would tear it up or smash it and scream at us for being ungrateful and how he hated kids and never wanted any. It was my mother fault for getting pregnant. He would hit us with his belt.

Then, he would get really drunk by 10 in the morning. He would sit there and bark out orders at all of us and than usually beat my mother with his fists while we hid under the bed waiting for him to pass out so we could help mama clean up all the broken stuff off the floor and get rid of the christmas tree before he woke up and go into another rage over how we ruined his christmas.

We always read the night before Christmas and the week before we clean out our change banks (kids too) to donate to a charity of the kids chosing (last year was the animal shelter we got our cat from and the year before was a family we knew had fallen on hard times and we just left the cash in their door) It's a great way to spread the joy of Christmas!

In our house, we make a birthday cake for Jesus and sing Happy Birthday on Christmas day :)

On Christmas Eve, we sprinkle our lawn with "reindeer dust" (oatmeal & glitter) so Rudolph & friends have something to munch since Santa gets cookies :)

And before Christmas, we make ornaments (usually origami using wrapping paper) on one side we put a picture, and on the other, we write a Christmas memory from that year. Beautiful keepsakes...I always cry when I unbox them, as my babies are growing up so fast!!

Happy Holidays to you!!
