It makes me question the whole reason for christmas. Watch Little house on the praire christmas..now that was a christmas! They were happy with an apple in there sock! Or a tin cup to drink out of.

I know it will go over like a lead balloon...but I was going to suggest to my (large) family that instead of doing our adult gift exchange this year that we all put $25 in an envelope and give the total sum to a local charity, like the Open Door Mission. It would be around $600!
Maybe I will mention it this year and by next yr some others may agree.
To me Christmas is about the birth of Christ and about celebrating with family.
God bless you this Christmas season!

To me christmas is a time to be giving and for a time of gathering with your family and your friends and the people that you love.
Just like christmas was made to be the day to celebrate the birth of jesus christ also it was made to be the day that you give away meaningless expensive gifts, that blind you from the way of the being thankful and loving and happy for what you have.

Christmas is about family if you look at it and togetherness but people think that if they buy someone something expensive that it will make them closer

CHRISTmas should be a happy time for everybody ... But, it has turned into a time when people feel obligated to spend money they don't have to spend on gifts that are sometimes not even practical.

its only because in this world we have forgot the real value of things.....and we believe that "expensive" is all what matter most...but people should step back in time and re valuate what we had in the past, a simple doll or a small carved wood train was the best gift you cold give and there was more happiness......

no joke, !!!!
I was just telling my mother that, and how frustrated I was buying for everyone, and the next words out of my mouth were "well I want........ and she made her list.
I dont know why we as society have set these expectations for gifts and giving, isnt it about being thankful, and to celebrate christs birth, and threw that being with family.
