I am not expert on catholicism, but I will answer what I think. I think because of the alternative, is why he allowed it. Think about God's alternative. It would have been to NOT allow sin, and therefore force people to behave a certain way. That would mean no freedom, no choice. Yes, it means there was a BIG can of worms opened up, but it was worth it to him to have the relationship with those that wanted one with God.

Hi I do not know anything about catholic belief but i can say that God has not allowed sin into the world, Sin is created by we Human Beings, sin is created when someone does anything that is against the preachings of catholic belief, and sin is created when someone hurts himself or others.
Goodness was taught by god evil was created by Humans.

I believe the church would say at least somewhat this is still a mystery - who can say why God has done all He has. But some have said sin is related to free will. As CS Lewis describes, imagine what it would be like if we had no free will - we would be like automatons. Yet, as soon as we have free will, a door is opened - we can now choose to obey or disobey God. It would seem God wanted to create us as more than automatons. He wanted to give us free will. Adam and Eve show that from the beginning, man could choose to disobey God. There are still further mysteries - as one could say why didn't God still somehow prevent this, but many might finally answer it was God's will to save us Himself. In not preventing this, but simply allowing us to sin, God is showing us the truth that without Him, we could not save ourselves nor be sinless. God shows His glory by saving us Himself, through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Only by Jesus Christ can we be saved - we cannot do it by ourselves. So, perhaps God chose to allow sin to show His glory, that He alone can save us.

God wants volunteers, not conscripts.
The only way people can freely choose God is if God gave all people freedom of the will. Some people will use this freedom to choose God.
Obviously, some people are going to use this freedom to reject God. The rejection of God's will is sin.
As you can see, we must have freedom of will in order to embrace God on our own accord. But this freedom, that allows us to choose God, also allows us to reject Him, and that is why sin is allowed in the world.
I hope this makes sense.

Religious people had to account for sin in SOME way or the other. So they said that god allowed it in.

He did not allow it, He gave man a choice and because of Satan deceiving Eve and Adam rebelled we made a choice to become like god, knowing good and bad.

It is simply the difference between creating man with a free will or creating him without moral freedom. Without this freedom there would be neither vice nor virtue - a rather insipid existence if you ask me.

God gave all of his intelligent creation free will. That is a great gift. Some have grossly misused it, but others have not.
