Honestly, I see quite a few girls at my school who used to have nice curly hair, and now they're trying to make it so straight. I don't get it. When I go on Yahoo answers I see quite a lot of people who claim they have straight hair and say they'd rather have curly hair. So why do those girls try so hard to get their hair so sraight?

Lets's begin with the most basic of reasons: the grass is always greener on the other side. People always want what they don't have. If they have curly hair, they want straight, and vice versa. That's just the way it is.

Also, straight hair can be much easier to manage, and sometimes, easier to make look attractive. I have curly hair that can't be washed more than twice a week, and once I brush it, it's totally frizzy and messy and all of that stuff. But when it's straight, I can just brush and go. So, it may just be the convienience.

Still, i think Yuko and relaxing aren't good and that you should wear your own natural curls occasionally.

Guess it could be that people want what they can't have. I have curly hair and wear mine straight just for a change but the majority of the time I wear mine natural. I have grown to like my curly hair.

I have curly hair and it is frizzy, dry and pretty much unmanageable in the Houston heat and humidity. But if I go to the trouble to straighten it (blow dry and iron), then it is frizz free, beautiful, and easy to brush & maintain. It also is longer (a plus) because it's not bounced up to my skull.

I leave it au naturel most of the time because straightening it is a lot of work, but am frankly much happier w/it straightened.

Because nobody is ever happy. People that have straight hair want curly hair. People that have curly hair want straight hair. I have straight hair and I love curly hair!! :)

well they want something new, not the same old curls they have now. ANd becuase multiple reasons. they have frizzy hair or they have uncontroable hair. i have pin staright hair and i can't curl is because in 30 minutes it goes flat so, sometimes having curly hair is an advantage and having both can be an advantage.

i dont know! i love curly hair i think it looks so good on people! i have wavy hair and it is so messed up looking, so i got a perm. and to that loser down there that said "curly hair isnt in right now" go f**k your self. cuz the day after i got my perm and i went to school, EVERYONE said it looked so cute and that they loved it. so how could it not be "in"?

Why do girls with thin lips want fat lips? Why do people with big butts want small ones, and vice-versa?

At your age (assuming you're in junior high or high school or even college) we all try on lots of new identities. New looks go with those identities. And, when your kids look at the photos of you at this age, they'll laugh their a&& off just like when you look at your parents' pics.

Sooo... the answer is, it's part of the "who am I, find my identity" process when we're young.

Curly hair isn't in right now. Also, curly hair is very hard to manage as opposed to straight hair, once it's straightened, you just have to run a brush through it.
