Sounds like the link allowed some sort of virus or trojan to load -- unless you can run an anti-virus or spyware program to remove it, you might be out of luck. Never click on any link from anyone unless you know exactly what it is and who is sending it to you. Also, set your security settings on your browser to prohibit all file downloads, otherwise you are open to all kinds of trouble.

Post the Error message , such as
disk not found _ if your hard drive died
Operating system not found if bios can find active HD with OS
if your press F8 non stop do you get the option for safe mode
Virus also might have destroyed your MBR(master boot Record) and PC would work until you try to reboot in that case, will need to reinstall OS or used rescue disks which no-one has anymore.

EDIT:
To get files back, make sure you dont format your hard drive,
if its still a working hard drive even if its corrupted and seems formatted you can install it as a slave HD in another PC and then import those files to the good PC.
also Using programs such as Rstudio can recover any data you may have even if it was formatted however you would need to place HD in a working enviroment PC.

All this assuming this PC been working well before and not a new setup with bad memory or over clocked CPU which both are very common items that make PC reboot non stop.

First, I hope you learned your lesson by clicking on misc links.

Now, to fix... do the F8 tapping thing and do a restore point from a MONTH or two ago. when it restarts click on shutdown when it asks for your password. DONT let windows start. turn on again and do the F8 thing. You should be able to start in safe mode. DISABLE system restore, as most malware can imbed themselves there. Run malware (virus/ad/spy) scans now and kill anything it finds.

HOPEFULLY, you can restart normally and be stable. Again, run all scans. Do windows update and install EVERYTHING. IF everything good, enable system restore again.

I'd suggest reloading/repairing Windows. Put your CD in the drive and reboot it and allow the CD to boot the system and reinstall Windows.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

2 possible things:
1. windows died / has a virus
2. you have a bad memory stick
