Lately I've been having cystic acne (blind zits). I used to only get them about once per year, rarely twice per year. Since October I have had 6 of them. I've been on the pill for over a year and a half and I know they say BC is one way of helping the cysts. Is the medicine wearing off? I'm not on insurance so it's not like I can just walk into a clinic and ask for Accutane, my budget is pretty slim as it is.

Are there any home sollutions that actually work on cystic acne? Because that's all I'm looking for.
I posted this before, and all the answer I got were not effective. Don't suggest Proactive, epsom salt, lemon juice, witch hazel, toothpaste, hot compress, popping (and yes I know you're not supposed to pop cysts), eyedrops to get rids of redness, rubbing alcohol, face wash, exfoliant...I wash my face once, sometimes twice a day and exfoliate almost everyday since I have very dry skin. Will anything besides these work?

Why do I even get them if most of my skin is very dry? The parts that get oily aren't really that oily. To me they are, but to other people it's just the skins way of staying moisturized, because I've seen people with oily skin and mine is nowhere as bad as theirs. I don't get it.

There's a product called Freederm which reduces the size and redness of the spots, you could try that.

I had this problem, and it is so, so painful!

I continue to use Laroche Posay, which is a nice, gentle line of products for problem skin...

They are relatively inexpensive and will not aggravate the skin, at the very least...

From the actual care of the acne, I used Face Doctor soap and cream, which also worked for the Rosacea I have...

I started with Face Surgeon soap, which made a dramatic change in just a couple of days...

This is a soap made from Seabuckthorn Oil and man, it totally works...I had tried everything short of Accutane and Retina...I had a friend on Accutane once and it made her super depressed and that was not a road I was willing to go down...

I saw a dermatologist about the same problem. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done about that most severe kind of acne once it has arisen. Little is known about the actual cause of cystic acne. They usually recommend Accutane to prevent it along with antibiotics. But those things can cause side effects with long term use. Best thing to do is to let them heal on their own.

Retin-A will cure them. You need to apply the cream every day, .01% will do, and you won't have them anymore.

Retin-A is a prescription cream.
