It makes me bitter. Just last night I'm at a bar, and I see a pretty girl I like. So I go up to her and say "How is it going?" She says "it's going good." So I said "Hey, what's your name?" At the same time her friend comes over and she gives me the "talk to the hand" and they both walk right out; as if she was just waiting for her to come out of the bathroom or something so they both could leave. I admit the way I asked her name was kind generic and passive. But . . .

Online dating? Nah that's for losers isn't it. I'd also have to deal with "sharing" about myself in public which I don't like.

Also, I am good looking -- not ugly. I ususally get girls numbers at bars. I had a cold and was off my game last night however.

No coffee shops either; unless Dunkin Donuts counts . . . $4 for cup of coffee that tastes shitty? Pu-leasze

Maybe she was drunk? Or embarassed? Or a bit of a *****? Here is a tip from me. Next time try going up to a girl and saying something like "You have a lovely smile" or "You have pretty eyes". There is less chance u will get a bad response. Just act nice and friendly and if she seems to like what u say, offer to buy her a drink. Dont be crude or flash and u will get someone decent one day. Dont let it put u off & good luck!

Checkster,

I share your pain. I think this is just the nature of the beast going on here. My troubles of late have not been so much with rejection per se, but, of finding worthwhile candidates that I can flirt with to be rejected by. I moved to a small coastal town in Florida. This definitely ain't South Beach. I am trying to find a woman without the tattoos, with all her teeth, without cigarettes, and with a working vocabulary of the English language. It is funny, though, how the real thrill is indeed in the chase. After the quarry is corralled, we seem to want to set her free and find a new mare.

It's frustrating, I know. People nowadays are not taught social skills...period. Long ago it was considered importand, but today giving people the brush off or being downright rude to their face, is generally acceptable (just "the way it is") and it' shouldn't be.

Try to take some comfort in the fact that anyone who would behave that way, isn't someone you'd want to be with anyway...not much but it may help a little.

It wasn't you - she was rude.

That is why a bar is the last place to go to meet women.

Talk to friends about hooking you up with someone they know or join Match.com.

For less than the amount of money you spend one night in a bar, you c an join the dating service for an entire month and meet women who are interested...

Good luck!

Don't take it personally. Even the guys who are the most successful with girls get blown off. Also, bars and clubs are the absolute worst places to meet girls - they have their defense up.

Try a place besides bars. Like coffee shops. Trust me, there are desperate nerd girls there.
