I suffer from allergies and am pretty self-conscious about them. I usually sneeze 4-5 times in a row and I do that at least five times a day, and it seems like I sniffle and blow my nose all the time. Antihistamines help a little bit, but I really hate feeling drowsy so I usually just deciding not to take them. I feel like people are staring at me and think less of me because of my allergies. Does anybody else feel like this and how do you deal with it?

Go see your doctor and get him/her to prescribe an allergy spray or something...I used to take the over the counter stuff and it got to a point where it did absolutely nothing for me...my nose was constantly red and I was forever sneezing...it did indeed make me very self concious...

I don't think anyone would think less of you but certainly take the step of seeing your doctor, this may help things a lot for you...

it certainly did for me..,plus, it doesn't make you sleepy...

I have the same problem, except with me I don't sneeze that many times in a row. I usually sneeze just once, but after that, my nose will run for at least an hour. It sucks when I'm sitting in the middle of class and I just sit there sniffling the entire time (I hate to blow my nose in front of others) or wiping my nose over and over. I've tried all sorts of over-the-counter products (pills, nose decongestants, etc.) but none of them seem to work - some of them actually make it worse.

Lately I've been reduced to holding in my sneezes by forcing myself to stop breathing for several seconds as soon as I feel the sneeze coming on, and then breathing out heavily through my mouth. If I don't sneeze, my nose doesn't run. It usually works most of the time.

I know exactly what you mean about feeling self-conscious about it, and I know I didn't really help much because I basically just shared my own story, but at least you know you're not the only one with this problem.

Ya its due 2 allergy.... U can try anti-allergic used commonly in almost all allergic conditions - CETRIZINE...

I vl nt advise u 2 take durgs 2 suppress cold i.e make d flow viscious.

Its better 2 drain all that water comes thru ur nose....

These conditions mostly occor in coastal areas where humidity is very much...

Keep environment clean n b away from dust, smoke, fumes of metals etc...

Don't use cloth 4 wiping ur nose. Always use Tissue paper. Use it n throw it in dustbin...

Thank u!...

Yes I do...in my mind there thinking I'm sick it's contagious. I used to have this allergies that I brake up because of my anxiety, it's in my system that cannot avoid. I know how you feel just ignore them and just be your self.

while i'm not self-concious about my allergies, i do suggest you get tested to find out which allergens bother you and look into immunotherapy a.k.a. allergy shots. the shots will seriously help you to reduce and or even eliminate your allergy attacks.
