Hello, yes a passport expires. When you open your passport the same page your picture is on, below it is the date your passport was issued and the date it expires. Generally a passport lasts up to ten years. A passport can be renewed at a post office. It is generally a good idea to renew a passport before it expires because when it does it may not be valid for identification and other documents that prove your identity may be needed, if that situation arises. Examples are birth certificate, social security card, and or proof of your residence (utility bills).

Hope this helps

U.S.A passports expire after 10 years if over 16. If under 16 they expire every 5 years I think. I know it's a lot less than 10 for under 16.

Of course they expire. It has the expiry date on it. In the U.S. it's good for ten years.
You have to renew your passport before it expires, I would start 6 months ahead.

Ten years for a U.S. passport; but, and this is a big BUT, make sure you have at least six months left on your passport when you plan to come back into the U.S. from being overseas. This is now being required for some overseas travel because of Homeland Security issues. So before you go anywhere overseas, check with the State Department on passport requirements.
