Jesus did die for our sins. All of them. But, He taught, and His Apostles were taught...and did teach: Baptism changes a person. Wipes the slate clean. Mere "believing" is not enough. Romans 6: 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

It is the New Birth. Baptismal Regeneration, it's called.

Confession is for all those post-baptismal sins that we commit.

You must repent. Do you even know what that means? It means to turn away from sin. You must confess your sins to God, and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. If you can read, why do you not find the answers to your questions in the Bible? They are all there. You only need look for them.

While Christ died for our sins we still have a sin nature, we will not be made perfect on this earth. We confess our sins as a way of apologising to God for screwing up. To repent just means to turn away from that sinful act.

Adam and Eve were created perfect. They were designed to live forever. When they disobeyed God and sinned, they forfeited all that. They began aging and eventually died.As offspring of that first human pair,we too all age,get sick and eventually die.
Jesus came to earth as a perfect human to ransom mankind from that enslavement to sin and death.
However the Bible doe not teach that it is automatic salvation. In order to have our sins forgiven and have a clean conscience before Jehovah God,we must have faith in Jesus' ransom sacrifice,we must repent of our sins,we must try and live our lives in harmony with God's righteous principles and we must exercise that faith by talking to others about Jehovah and Jesus.
Mankind will not be fully freed from enslavement to sin until after the 1000 year reign of Christ. When faithful men and women will be given the wonderful gift of eternal life on a cleansed earth, just as it was in the beginning.

Jesus died on the cross so that those who seek Him can spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is a requirement that you confess your sins and ask for forgiveness.

Acts 3:19-23: "“Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get YOUR sins blotted out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the person of Jehovah 20 and that he may send forth the Christ appointed for YOU, Jesus, 21 whom heaven, indeed, must hold within itself until the times of restoration of all things of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets of old time. 22 In fact, Moses said, ‘Jehovah God will raise up for YOU from among YOUR brothers a prophet like me. YOU must listen to him according to all the things he speaks to YOU. 23 Indeed, any soul that does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people."

3 centuries later, with the help of emperror Constantin, the christian sects revised all that and began preaching submission to authority, obediance, accepting your lousy life witout revolt etc... That is when the big marketing efforts of the sect began to be succesfull...
